Blueybluex Posted February 18, 2021 Report Posted February 18, 2021 Anyone else’s caregiver have PTSD? Mine specifically has CPTSD, and I’ve never been with someone who has this condition. Any advice would be appreciated? I was in little space yesterday and I tried to wake him up as he was sleeping and let’s just say it didn’t end well and I know it’s not his fault but I can’t help but feel anxious and scared now
DerbyNerd Posted February 18, 2021 Report Posted February 18, 2021 CPTDS is as the C indicates complex to deal with. I would advise that you have a big talk with him and lay down even more specific ground rules than a normal DDLG relationship, as you're not only dealing with the dynamic but also his condition/triggers etc. CPTSD and PTSD in general is tricky because even people who know their condition very well can have unexpected triggers. You might also need to come to terms with having some limitations on your dynamic, CPTSD is exhausting and I can imagine this might impact on how much time he can spend in 'daddy mode'. For yourself it might be worth making an effort to have littlespace time on your own so you don't miss out but he also gets a break if he needs it. Lots of positive interactions within the safe boundaries that you talk about will help ease your anxiety. 1
WhysperKit Posted February 19, 2021 Report Posted February 19, 2021 Coming from someone with CPTSD, I second what DerbyNerd said above. You need to have a good talk with him to discuss his known triggers and even things that might trigger him. It's exhausting as heck and somedays I don't even want to deal with people because I'm just so on edge, so I can be rude and even mean to Daddy. Luckily though we've talked and he recognizes now when I'm in those moods and just gives me a stuffie, blanket, puts on a movie I like and leaves me alone. 1
