DerbyNerd Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 Hiya everyone! So I'm a super duper crafty person, if there is a craft out there I've either tried it, do it or have it on my list to try. But I've noticed that I can never seem to craft in little space. It's been bugging me a bit because I get so much joy out of my crafting (sometimes frustration but mostly joy). But when I've tried to think of 'littlespace' craft projects to try I just shudder and don't want to. I think it would be awesome to be able to combine these two aspects of my life but I don't know how. Any crafty littles wanna help me? My current list of craft projects (to give you and idea of what I do) - Crocheting a ram for a new bub in the family - Knitting scale maille gloves (these are super awesome and I take commissions for them) - Sewing clothes (right now I'm making some hoodies that friends have ordered and trying to make myself some shirts) - Quilting (this is a new one and I'm COMPLETELY obsessed, I love the precision and order of it - making a Halloween themed quilt right now and bee themed quilted placemats) - Knitting a wonder woman scarf/shawl (love this also but hurts my hands after a little while) - Drawing D&D maps (for the game that I'm playing in, mostly of our manor, once again I love the precision element) - Sewing plushies (currently doing a bunch of Among Us crewmen and have the cutest pattern for a spider once my friends embroidery machine is fixed) - Hand embroidery (of a costume from my favourite D&D stream, this is a labour of love and doesn't get a lot of attention at the moment)
Lollipox Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 What is it that stops you from doing it compared to normal?
DerbyNerd Posted October 21, 2020 Author Report Posted October 21, 2020 What is it that stops you from doing it compared to normal? Maybe it’s because none of my craft options are really little appropriate?
Lollipox Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 Maybe it’s because none of my craft options are really little appropriate? I sew, paint, draw, write, make comics, wood carve etc as a Little. I don't think I understand enough to be able to help, sorry. Hopefully someone else will be able to. Good luck
maddycakes Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 What about your crafts do you not find "little appropriate"? I learned to knit when I was 6 years old and have been drawing forever! If you mean that you haven't found any projects that are reminiscent of littles/littlespace, I totally recommend a knit/crochet blankie, or you could sew yourself a new stuffie! If you are trying to get more in touch with your little self, maybe just break out the markers and some blank paper and let yourself go crazy with it. The whole point of crafting is that it's supposed to be fun, so when you're in littlespace, get all your craft stuff together and think about what calls to you as a fun activity and then go with it! It doesn't need to be perfect or precise or great lines or anything, just allow yourself to craft with no preconceptions of the outcome, focus on the activity and how much fun it is! hope that helps!
DaddysMonkey Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 If you have any close friends that know about your lifestyle , or friends that are already in the DDLG lifestyle , you could draw comics or themed pictures. I don’t have a lot of friends for numerous reasons , but I have one really special friend. I’ve been drawing a lot of themed pictures of the two of us together. It’s especially nice because her and I live in different universes (or countries ... whichever you prefer) , so drawing the two of us together makes it feel like we are closer ! Drawing is really nice because you can draw yourself how you perceive your little side to be whether it’s 24/7 or a small part of you. You could also make booger art.... Just a suggestion !
Vampiress Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 Think up crafts that you might find little appropriate. For this maybe I'd draw inspiration from art I might've done in elementary school. Construction paper crafts, finger painting, clay projects, macaroni art, watercolors, etc.

I guess mostly with the sewing its because I use a machine and a rotary cutter which little me finds overwhelming and my projects require me to be precise which little me isn't always super great at. As far as crochet and knit I'm primarily drawn to complex projects which little me wouldn't be able to handle (I also learned to knit when I was young but it didn't go beyond knit and purl to make scarves). I guess a big part of it is that I'm a perfectionist about my crafting and while it's enjoyable in the moment I get a huge amount of enjoyment out of seeing projects later and thinking that I made that. Maybe I'm worried that big me will pick apart little me's projects?

Construction paper crafts, finger painting, clay projects, macaroni art, watercolors, etc. I like this in theory but I guess a big part of my enjoyment from craft is showing off and displaying what I make. And no one in my life knows I'm a little so I can't just hang stuff on the fridge without it being weird.
MysticSand Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 Hmm. Just gonna throw this out there but the crafts you listed that you already do sound really functional (as well as hecka cool). I would suggest maybe scrapbooking? I feel like it's something that has an element of function but also little space as you get to use/make stickers and glue stuff and get shiny glitter and beads and such. It's like decorating, but with a purpose. I imagine they'd make great gifts as well as just personal enjoyment out of creating something from cherished memories (I'm imagining using pictures and having to cut them out and frame them and such). And ribbons, yes use ribbons. Just stuff that's pretty.
maddycakes Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 Maybe I'm worried that big me will pick apart little me's projects? Ahh, I totally understand that! Maybe something you can try is picking out an easy project beforehand (blankets are good because they are just squares!) while you are big, so that you already know how it will come out. Another thing I would consider, and I don't mean to overstep so please forgive me if I am, is trying to address that underlying feeling of your "littler" projects being not good enough. It's one thing to get enjoyment out of a very nice finished project, but it's another to force that standard of excellence on yourself for every project. That just seems really stressful and unattainable, even if you were always big! Either way, I wish you luck, and I hope at least some of the suggestions in this thread have been helpful to you

But the idea of doing something just for it to be pretty/fun is good. Ahh, I totally understand that! Maybe I could get one of those kit projects meant for kids and try that? I've seen cute knitting or crocheting kits for kids. Oooh or even a little long stitch or something? I used to do those when I was younger and enjoyed them.
maddycakes Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 Yes! That sounds perfect!! I hope you will share some pictures when you try it out
Vampiress Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 Have you ever looked into trying those diamond painting kits? They come in different sizes, themes, and difficulties. They look really pretty, I've always wanted to try one myself.
