My non-CGl Partner Told Me Stories!

Last night at bedtime I lost my earbuds so I couldn't listen to podcasts like I usually do to fall asleep. My partner (who is very little-like but doesn't want the label but totally gets me) felt really bad for me and so she asked if I'd like for her to tell me stories. This isn't something I've ever felt the need for (I mean... I'm a middle. Psh.), but she's so sweet that I said yes. And then she made up two of the cutest stories EVER right there on the spot!

One was about a girl who built a ladder to the moon and then brought back blue cheese for her family; and the other one was about a girl (it was me!) who took two shells off the beach but then heard crying and found out there was a girl living in each shell.

They were so good that I think I'm going to need her to tell me stories all the time now.

Does anybody else's partner or CG make up stories for them, or do you make up stories to tell someone? I used to for my kids or when I would babysit but I'm not nearly as good at it as my partner is (ironic since I'm a writer lol).

Oooh, those sound like awesome stories! You should write them down and keep a collection, you could even draw the pictures for them! Daddy makes up stories for me sometimes but they usually end up being really gory or overly sexual... BLECH :p He does it on purpose to push my buttons, so I usually just insist on pre-written stories lol X)

Ahaha, mean daddy. I know, I was thinking of writing them down. I loved them so much, I'd love to save them!!

This is making me want to write again. Never tried writing a children's story before come to think of it. But I remember a long time ago I came up with a story on the spot for a friend not unlike this.

I wish my last cg had told me a story, I had asked and brought it up a few times but he always brushed it off saying "we'll see" and "maybe". It came up after he wrote and texted one to a coworker/friend of his. And he'd always joke about making them gory or sexual to push my buttons too. But those stories sound so cute. I hope you get to have more told to you soon. :)

I'm sorry to hear about that. A big reason I even got into DDlg was because I liked the idea of storytime and have since read to others many times in groups or individually. There's something special about the idea that I've made someone so comfortable and relaxed listening to me that they just doze right off. My favorite to read is Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but I picked up a collection of fairy tales too that I'll flip through. And I've been trying to learn to sing better and sing lullabies. I can't promise at all I'm a good singer, but I try. Puff The Magic Dragon has been a favorite of mine. I'd say You Are My Sunshine is wonderful too, but the lyrics are very sad.

I love making up stories! They are fun and I really do enjoy it! However I don’t think I am particularly good at especially at the drop of a hat I like to make a few up!

This is so lovely. You sound like a very good Daddy.

I certainly aim to be. Just hard to find the right girl for me.
