Guest rainbowglo Posted October 5, 2020 Report Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) Empathy is a powerful thing and I think the world needs more of it. It can help. It can heal. It can guide. It can provide. It quells worry and fear. It stomps out assumption. It simply is warm and cuddly and kind and the world certainly needs more of that! Edited October 5, 2020 by rainbowglo
Guest Thunder Sprite Posted October 5, 2020 Report Posted October 5, 2020 Does everyone deserve empathy? Depending on your perspective, it doesn't matter. Empathy and compassion heal in large part because they grow one's heart. The larger one's heart becomes, the more people one can offer compassion to. Some are certainly much easier than others.

Kitten&Spice Posted October 7, 2020 Report Posted October 7, 2020 (edited) I really do think there is a lot of people now who lack empathy. Some people can become so wrapped up in their own desires, wants, and even beliefs that they completely disregard another person’s feelings. However I do agree that some people simple do not deserve any form of empathy based on their actions. There is no other way of empathizing with people who only seek to harm and to destroy all living things. This is where the line should be drawn because it is simply put some people are just evil. I agree with Forest Evergarden; blind empathy is not the way to do things. Edited October 7, 2020 by CatboyAdrian
Somewhatdiscreet Posted October 7, 2020 Report Posted October 7, 2020 it does, and not everyone is deserving of empathy. blind empathy leaves you open to abuse and manipulation. Being naive isn't the same thing as being empathetic. I can empathise with a serial killer and not want him to die but still duck starting a DnD campaign with him and going on long drives with him in his car.

Empathy has no place used for abusers. Look I have actually seen empathic people abused for blind empathy.
Guest rainbowglo Posted October 11, 2020 Report Posted October 11, 2020 I think a couple of you are mistaking empathy with... well... other things. The purpose of this thread was to promote kindness and compassion... not to say "yeah but this person over here did bad things so I cannot relate to even an ounce of their pain which may or may not have caused or contributed to their behavior" I recognize it can be difficult to empathize or "witness a commonality" or "feel for" someone who has done you wrong, but it is one thing to feel for them, and quite another to enable them. I don't have to like or love you to feel for your woes. 1
Kitten&Spice Posted October 11, 2020 Report Posted October 11, 2020 Sorry Rainbowglo! I think it shifted gears when there was a question and knowing most of us we like to answer! I am with you on how important empathy is and I think that we really do need more of it! I think it would be a better place if people had just an ounce of empathy in their hearts! But again I apologize for going off track with your lovely post!
