DerbyNerd Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 Hiya! I've recently bought 2 onesies and LOVE LOVE LOVE the way they make me feel. I'm decent at sewing so I had a thought to make myself some more (since it will cost less). Anybody have ideas about what fabrics would be nice/work well for onesies. I'm considering a couple of fleecy ones for winter but more need summer options.
ScarletBaby Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 I think soft cotton materials are probably really good. The best onesie is soft and stretchy in my opinion, that's why I think of cotton. 1
Lollipox Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 Cotton and spandex blend. Cotton by itself isn’t stretchy. Or jersey knit, which is similar to legging material. Microfleece, polar fleece and stretch velvet. Just make sure that your fabric has a horizontal or multidirectional stretch. Good luck! Can you let us know how you go? 1
Guest fhihfidhfd38478 Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 Hey! I don't have any experience sewing large garments like onesies, but I have bought from two different companies. My Onesies Down Under onesies are a 95% cotton 5% spandex blend. The other onesie is from Lil Kink Boutique and is a 95% polyester and 5% spandex blend. The one made out of mostly cotton is my preference, though it doesn't have a lot of give. It feels a lot like a tee shirt. I'd recommend getting pretty exact measurements The polyester blend is very stretchy and kind of moisture-wicking. I think it depends on personal preference, but those are my very limited experiences. 1

Hiiiiii I found 2 fabrics that I love. One is a cotton/spandex mix thats witchy theme and the other is a stretchy micro fleece (I think? Its super duper soft and feels amazing, definitely my favourite of the 2). These are nearly done, just waiting for my bias binding tool to arrive so I can do the edges, 2
