Glittery Marshmallow Posted August 30, 2020 Report Posted August 30, 2020 So, so, soooooo Daddy came to see me finally!!! Took him a total of a 6 hours driving plus some more but he came to see me, even if it was just for an hour! I showed him the stone cactus I painted for him and the wine bottles I decorated with *gasp* GLITTER. I'd glittered the whole house the night before. Hehe. The cactus sort of looked like a watermelon to him, though but oh well. But I'm, for real, so happy that Daddy came to see me. He got me soap that he made for me (I'm allergic to normal soaps, though. So I think it was pretty difficult for him). I miss him so much already, it sucks. We've had to go into an LDR ever since the global crisis began. Anyways, Question, What's your creative medium? I can't draw well but I like to paint and colour and make diy glitter thingies!
MissPattch Posted August 30, 2020 Report Posted August 30, 2020 I'm really happy you got to visit with your Daddy!! That must have been awesome time together As far as my creative medium? I lovelovelove writing >.< I can't draw to save my life, but i can spin a really good story ^^ I have a huge imagination, and when i settle into a narrative, i get lost in my own words. Its the same when i read somebody else's work. I adore language and communication, and words <3 1

We were both super anxious though because we'd met after a long time and while I have clinical anxiety, he's got schizophrenia. Aaaaaah. I love love love writing too. It's funnnnn! And yessss, I can so relate. *squeals* Can we be friends?

Glittery Marshmallow Posted September 5, 2020 Author Report Posted September 5, 2020 As counter-intuitive as it might sound, reading has been my medium these past few months. I've become a more careful reader, and it's been rewarding Yus! Reading is amazing! I haven't been reading as much as I've been writing and I sorta wish I had a good book to curl up with. My usual go-to medium is making electronic music--I need to break down my setup to clear room for my new work-from-home office, so I'm sadly eyeing my synths and deciding which ones need to be shelved for now. Besides that, I love collaging! Making collages out of old Nintendo Power issues from my childhood, random comic books from thrifting, fashion magazines, and, um...grown up magazines is something I really love to do. Over the past decade or so, it's really helped me explore my queerness, reflect on (and immortalize) relationships, and generally do some good ol' introspection. I haven't made a new piece in years, but I still try to gather collage materials to cut up and organize into sets that I can use in the future--just sitting around using scissors has been really soothing lately. Oh my gosh this sounds SOOOO cute and fun!! Do you have a picture of them? Watermelon-cactus sounds like an amazing gift!! This makes so much sense! I've been feeling the same way too--not very creative, but very imaginative while reading. I've been reading to Mommy too, and doing the character voices has taken it to a whole other level--especially with The Canterbury Tales, soooo many ridiculous characters to make up voices for! I really like collages but I've never done one myself. Except, this one for a Design class assignment back in Freshman year but when you put it that way, I want to do it and have fun with it this time! I do have a picture. Or I'll take one if you'd like to see. The stone cactus had a flower on its head. I seriously don't get why anybody would like that a watermelon wears a flower. But, since it's short and fat, I guess I know why. xD I read Daddy things usually when we're studying together. He's a year older than me and that's what I do when I want him to finish his studies quickly so that he can pay attention to me. But I'm thinking of reading stories to him now!
little1grl Posted September 6, 2020 Report Posted September 6, 2020 I have sooooo many creative mediums. I love doing creative stuff. I can draw and paint so sometimes I do that. This morning I was drawing a huge flower bed that is a short walk from my apartment. I'm trying to get into making stuff out of polymer clay... learning a little. I crochet sometimes. I do photography and videography. In the past I've made soaps, and also done wood burning... which I hope to get back into again. (The wood burning). In the past I used to write a lot of creative stories and every once in awhile I get back into it. I've also wanted to learn how to do digital painting, though I don't know how to do that. I love being arts and craftsy! I love making stuff!

I love being arts and craftsy! I love making stuff! I do pyrography too! It’s relaxing to me ^^ and I kinda like the burning wood smell (though I do it in ventilated area). And I want to try polymer clay. I dabbled in it once like 12yrs ago lol but I burnt my project. Getting the temp right feels like a task. I still wanna get into it though. What do you plan to make?
Guest Dandy Blob Posted September 6, 2020 Report Posted September 6, 2020 I enjoy being creative but I don't really do much about it! I like to write, and often I really enjoy just silly/cutesy arts & crafts (usually making silly things for my boyfriend), doodling/making spreads in my bullet journal, crocheting (is that creative?)...I have A LOT of things I want to do but money & space to do them or store the items is really the issue currently.
Lollipox Posted September 7, 2020 Report Posted September 7, 2020 It's really cool that so many people crochet! I used to live with someone who crocheted a lot, it definitely seemed really calm and soothing. Kinda jealous now I didn't spend more time trying to learn it from him. >.< Yesssss omg I haven't done woodburning in probably 15 years, but I loveloveLOVE the smell of burning wood too. Lol half the reason I go camping is just to get covered in campfire smell. So I actually don't know anything about, like, different kinds of woods--do you do pyrography on different types of wood? Do different woods require different tools/heat levels, and end up with different kinds of markings? I'm so curious now!!! I just use pine wood, it’s a softer wood so it’s easier to burn on ^^ It’s also easier for carving. And I have heard Bass wood is good too. The only issue I’ve had is with the grain in the wood making the tool jump and cause line inconsistencies. I donno how to avoid that though. I think it’s better to have a tool you can adjust, cuz I’m pretty sure you need higher temps for harder wood types. My pyrographer is a cheap poopy one but it gets the job done. I dunno how it would handle harder wood types. There’s an awesome pyrographer tool that has this lil V bend wire for a tip instead of interchangeable nibs. That seems to work great on everything.
Guest xodoe Posted September 16, 2020 Report Posted September 16, 2020 I do digital artwork so I can make pretty collages with cute images and doodle with my drawing pad. It’s soooo fun but I do wish I could use some glitter ☺️ *pours glitter on drawing pad*
Arlene-is-mean Posted October 19, 2020 Report Posted October 19, 2020 I like drawing, even though I’m awful at it
Kitten&Spice Posted October 19, 2020 Report Posted October 19, 2020 My creative medium is something that is just anything related to my hands! I love to refurbish as well as make things! I also love to draw! Rather that is on paper, painting, or digital I love to just sketch things! I am also big on creating stories and writing! I have plans to make a comic series and to also do littlespace related books! And I also enjoy crafts like origami! My plan is to start sewing so I can make things for my little space as well as making pacis! But that will have to wait til I can get things set up!
princessfreckles Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 Every once in a while I'll color. I wish I could paint on a canvas (I've done wine and canvas before and enjoyed it), do pottery, and other crafty stuff. Sadly, I'm not as artistic as I'd like to be. Also I'm a perfectionist, so any small mistake gives me anxiety.
hufflepuff_mommy Posted November 7, 2020 Report Posted November 7, 2020 I've recently taken up sewing, which is a lot of fun . I'm trying to get to the point where I can make/alter vintage clothing - historic/vintage clothing is a huge interest of mine, so I'm trying my best to learn the techniques to recreate historic clothing. Another creative medium I've attempted is writing. I try to journal regularly, and encourage my creative muse by writing without constant editing (I try to edit only after I've finished a chunk of writing).
Quirkygrl16 Posted November 7, 2020 Report Posted November 7, 2020 I crochet, sew,draw,paint... I love creativity so much
