Bedtime Stories without a Caregiver, how to do it?

Recommended Posts

Littles and middles, how can we give ourselves bedtime stories read out loud to us when we don’t have a caregiver? I’ve thought about pulling out the Harry Potter series and reading it out loud to myself, but I believe that won’t let me relish my “little” headspace nearly as much as having a man’s (I’m a straight female) voice reading young/teen books to me.

What are the options out there?

There are youtube videos of childrens stories being read, audio books, and I believe even down in the Creative section there have been postings of CG's doing readings.

I think recently there was a Discord channel also posted somewhere on the forum about a storytime group and volunteer CG's taking turns to read. Lots of options!

Yep I would say the same youtube has a ton of book reading resources and some of them are really popping.

I have also been really into bedtime boyfriend asmr its a little quirky at first but some of them are really nice and help you sleep even though it's not CG specific and even if it's not bedtimes they are usually pretty nice you can find them in various different languages and it just makes you feel like somebody cares.

if you don't mind actual children's books I would recommend this playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75NQK-Sm1YY&list=PL9A1idYJMI6A-q1hOxRnH9n3xyLJkTwW0 SFW

Books on tape/youtube/CD. Or, if you want to go all out and aren't scared of animatronics, Teddy Ruxpin or another Worlds of Wonder talking friend. Their talking Mother Goose is also very sweet, and they had Snoopy and Mickey Mouse. Others exist, too, like Big Bird. Edited by Bearly

For the moment Audible is offering a children's collection for free listening in multiple languages. By the way they word the availability, it'll probably go away by August. So if the link goes dead that's probably what's happening.

There's lots of options on YouTube that are amazing!! A lot of places that have audiobooks also do children's books that way so that's an option, too.

There is a website and app called "Calm" and they provide recorded "Sleep" stories, narrated by both men and women.

I listen to them every night and am usually fast asleep within 5 or 10 minutes. Most of them are written for adults, but there are a number, like "The Velveteen Rabbit" or chapters from "The Wind in the Willows", that seem designed for littles.

Sorry for the double reply, but I also asked my girlfriend to record herself reading a 30 minute section from "Don Quixote" in spanish (She is in Colombia). My spanish is not strong enough to understand it yet, but her voice is soothing and knowing that she took the time to do it for me makes me feel great.

Youtube has thousands of read aloud books for kids! That's my go-to and what I recommend to anyone that's looking for independent story time!
