So I apologize if I go into too much detail in some sections.

Profile Photo

 

The forum requires a very small image size for your profile photo.

• Use an image editor to resize

• Use postimages.org, a site that lets you upload and resize images. (Copy and paste the Direct Link, as shown below)

• Open your image on your phone and screenshot it. Sometimes the screenshot will be small enough to use instead of the original pic.

Profile Editing

 

You can access your settings by:

• Visiting your profile > Edit Settings

• Click your username in top right corner > My Settings

Profile Background

 

Upload an image straight from your computer/device, or copy the Image URL (link ends in .jpg, .png, .jpeg, .gif)

If using an Image URL make sure the beginning says http://

If it says https// , remove the 's' or your image url will not work.

 

1. Want your profile image to repeat across the screen?

Tick the "Tile Image" box.

 

2. Image with Transparent Background?

If you hate the pinky purple forum bg colour you can change it by selecting something different in "Background Colour".

 

3. Mobile Version, Can't Access Colour Selector?

Google "Hex colour codes" to find a colour and code you like, or use the image below. Be sure to add # in front of the 6 digit code.

 

4. Getting an Image URL

Found an image online you want for your background?

Right click > Copy Image Location/Image Address > Paste in Image URL box

For Mobile/Tablet users: Hold your finger down > Copy/Copy Image > Paste in Image URL box

Tip: Add your info in "Edit About Me" rather than the provided Interests boxes.

 

Why Personalise Your Profile?

Your profile (including signature and profile photo) is your No. 1 way to express yourself, aside from interacting with others in forum posts or the chatroom.

It's the one space that's all yours on the forum.

 

What Should I Include?

Depending on whether you like to share a lot, or only a little, there are all sorts of things you can add.

• Your preferred name, if you don't want to use your username.

• Any roles you identify as.

• How long have you been into DD/lg (or its variants).

• Your interests; Bands/Music, Movies, TV Shows, Hobbies

• Your pets

• Whether you're seeking a partner, or not.

• Your BDSM or Kink interests

• Something that you feel makes you unique.

• Gifs, Pixel Art, A Youtube Video of your favourite song.

 

Tip: Avoid text walls. Don't write so much that it becomes a large chunk of text. Leaving information out gives you something to talk about with people. If they've learnt everything there is to know about you just in your profile, what's left to discuss?

 

Using Spoiler Boxes To Your Advantage

If you feel like all of your content is an important part of yourself that you want people to know about you, consider sectioning it off into Spoiler Boxes to make it easier for people to navigate through your page.

You can create a spoiler box by putting [ spoiler ] Writing Goes Here [ /spoiler ] without the spaces.

 

Have a Personal or Friend Zone ad?

Add a link to it on your profile so people know where to look!

Font Formatting

 

Use all the font formatting features you're provided with to make your profile appear organised, and make it easier to read through.

 

Make titles and headers stand out using Bold or Underlined font.

Make keywords Bold or Italic to add emphasis to them.

E.g. My Favourite Movies are: Bambi, Horton Hears a Who, Quentin Tarantino Movies, 2001: Space Odyssey, Two Weeks Notice, 2 Fast 2 Furious

or

I'm attending _blank_ University and studying "degree here". I'm on my fourth year and.... blah blah blah

 

Adding Colours To Font

Don't use hard to read colours. Avoid neon or pastel colours that won't show up well against the light background.

Afterall, what's the point of writing anything if nobody can read it?

Use darker tones to emphasize Titles/Headers, and lighter tones for the main text.

 

Font Styles

Tip: Comic Sans error. There's an issue with Comic Sans font on the forum, where it will show up as a cursive script font depending on what device you're using. (I don't know why)

 

Choose a font style for your Titles/Headers, use the same one for all of them.

Choose a font style for your main text and consistently use it.

 

Font Sizes

Larger Font for Titles or Headers.

Medium-Small or Medium for main text.

Don't use tiny text that nobody can read.

• Use an art program to create a unique profile header (example below)

• Use an art program to make unique title headers. (example below)

• Use paragraph dividers. You can find these by googling "Page Divider PNG transparent". (example below)
