Jolene Posted April 28, 2020 Report Posted April 28, 2020 My husband isn't comfortable with me having a paci. I want to respect this, but sucking on things soothes me when I'm stressed out. Are there any alternatives that y'all have found for pacifiers to help with soothe sucking? Right now, I use his fingers a bit, but it grosses me out sometimes thinking about all the places his hands have been, even if he's just washed them... Idk...
Guest daddy'ssweetpea Posted April 28, 2020 Report Posted April 28, 2020 Maybe teethers? Not sure if he'd be ok with that.
Little kaiya Posted April 28, 2020 Report Posted April 28, 2020 Have you had a conversation with your husband about what exactly makes him uncomfortable with you sucking on a pacifier? Without knowing why it makes him uncomfortable it's hard to suggest alternatives. Is it the association with infancy? Is it the look of pacifiers? Is he worried someone else may see it? Some of my friends who find sucking on things soothing use mints or lollipops. One friend actually uses homemade icicles as they like the cool sensation. Honestly, maybe start with finding out his concern then maybe your husband can suggest alternatives that he would be ok with you using.
LittlePupRune Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 I would look at places that make stimming toys. My personal favorite is stimtastic. They have silicone mouth stim toys, some suitable for chewing some for sucking. May be a viable alternative. 1
