GamerMusician Posted February 9, 2020 Report Posted February 9, 2020 What are things you do to keep going when the world rears its ugly head? I'm struggling with my last semester of college and I'm not sure how to cope.
RavenclawPrincess Posted February 9, 2020 Report Posted February 9, 2020 Sometimes you just have to buckle down and keep pushing through it. In your case, you're SO close to being finished with college. Keep your eye on that light at the end of the tunnel, because you're almost there!
Guest DemureBelle Posted February 9, 2020 Report Posted February 9, 2020 The last hurdle can be hard. Stay strong, don't forget to have some time for yourself. It's easy to be swept away by all the work but you'll only burn out. Go out with your friends or family, and just take it a day at a time. Set yourself a work goal or a task you want to complete by the end of the day and try your hardest. But make sure to not overwork!
Guardian_Witcher Posted February 9, 2020 Report Posted February 9, 2020 For me, my last year of education was hell. I got through it because I had a supportive person (family member) that allowed me to vent, listened and kept cheering me on. Finding someone in that support network helped me through. The other part.of it was working endlessly to finish. I had quite a few low points but I never gave up. So you have to decide, I am going to finish, no matter how painful this process is and i am going to come out of the other side successful giving it my all. I went through it, finished, and life became better. Keep going and let the pain flow through you, then past you, and keep going. You can do this.
Guest QueenJellybean Posted February 9, 2020 Report Posted February 9, 2020 reward yourself with the little things. doesn't even have to be material. a sweeter breakfast than usual one morning, a bubble bath, and extra hour in bed. pamper yourself & use that time as a reminder that you deserve these good things and good moments. because you are doing the hard part!! so let yourself reap the benefits. it may sound small & dumb, but it's the little parts of my day that i make for me that make the rest of it a little easier to bear. even if that's 20 minutes in my car blasting showtunes.
MysticSand Posted February 13, 2020 Report Posted February 13, 2020 Is it the last semester of college you're struggling with, or the uncertainties that come after that last semester? For me, it was the latter. I think if you line up something or have a plan for after the last semester, it will make the last semester that much easier. It'll give you something to look forward to rather than focusing on the stress of having to dot your i's and cross your t's now. Knowing that what you're going through now is just a blip (albeit a big, positive one) in your lifetime could diminish the feelings of finality and monotony that's been formal education. You'll finally start to get doing things that really interest you and take learning in to your own hands! What are the specifics of what you're struggling with? That may help inform posters how to better respond too. Is it the stress of everything due? Is it the tiresome question of what comes after from family and friends? Is it burnout from so much damn learning? I know for most last semester's, a final thesis is probably required for graduation. When I was doing mine, I binged the entire Big Bang Series (had never seen an episode before that semester) up to what was available then (5 seasons?) in maybe the 2 weeks leading up to when it was due. For my grad degree, I was a bit more responsible and started the thesis way sooner by creating an outline of how many pages needed to go in to each section of my paper and setting personal deadlines every 2-4 weeks for that semester. What makes you happy? Do it. When you can, where ever you can. Small doses, big doses. Just do it. Also what the above posters said.
