Oh, and FINELINER PENS.  Always fineliner pens, for Christmas, my birthday, whatever.  I start out with like a 20 pack of them and then leave them in random places one by one until I'm suddenly left with 2 or so. The perils of sketching in the wild.

I want peace on earth and goodwill to all men (and women). But I don't think Santa can do that.

 

The only thing I've asked for so far has been a Thunder Tube. It's a plastic tube with a metal coil out the back and when you shake it, the resonance echoes in the tube and sounds like roaring thunder! I'm fascinated by it.

I've asked my Secret Santa at work for a long-term subscription to n+1 or The New Yorker.

 

Similarly, as a Secret Santa I'm presenting my colleague a subscription to JSTOR and Bartleby (The subs are for his soon-to-be-in-college daughter).

 

We have an Excel sheet where we list what we'd like, and I like this arrangement as it makes it easier to get someone something really useful, and not just a generic gift.
