littleniina Posted November 14, 2019 Report Posted November 14, 2019 (edited) Hello all! I'm new here so I hope it's okay to post this here! I'm sorry if I messed up! But well I had a question I wanted to ask other littles. See, I have a problem in my mouth and to make a long story short I can't use things like straws or sippy lids, anything that requires suction! It'll cause a lot of irritation and pain :C But I really want a sippy style cup! Do you guys know of any that are kinda sippy cups, but they just let the water flow out when you tip them? Today I bought a Nuby 360 degree cup thinking it would be like that, but you still have to use suction to get the water out :C It's a cute space ship design tho, so I guess I can use it without the lid, but I would really like to have something that does have a lid on it, yknow? I hope my question made sense! So do you guys know of any kiddy lid cups that can just let the water flow out? Thank you! Edited November 14, 2019 by littleniina
CodeName: Trouble Posted November 14, 2019 Report Posted November 14, 2019 Hello littleniina and welcome to the forum! I have 2 suggestions that I think might be worth trying out!!! Something I use in place of sippy cups is cute little water bottles! Some of the ones I have originally came with a straw on the inside, but I remove the straws so I can use them when I'm laying down, and the liquid inside usually just flows right out of the spout so no need for suction! you could also get cute water bottles that you can just squeeze the sides of maybe.... My second idea thou is to modify a sippy cup by enlarging the holes on it. Enlarging the drinking holes would let more liquid out, and making the air flow hole bigger would allow the liquid to come out in a even stream instead of just drips by letting air get into the cup easier. You could probably do this by heating up a piece of metal and poking it through the plastic (but if you arent comfortable doing that, plz dont try - safety first!!!!) I'm not 100% that it would work, or rather, work well, but it could be worth a try Good luck on your sippy cup quest!
Lollipox Posted November 14, 2019 Report Posted November 14, 2019 (edited) Check inside the lid near the spout for a removable silicone piece. Most kids sippy cups will have removable parts for parents to wash or sterilize them properly. If you’re able to remove the silicone bit it should flow smoothly. Is this the one you have? Is this the one you have? close, i have the bigger one actually, with the space ships. i watched an assembly video to try and understand how to take it apart, but i'm having a hard time popping the pieces out :C i think it's cuz i have long nails oops, but it doesn't wanna budge :C

The straws are usually super easy to take out, they need to be removable for cleaning purposes so that shouldnt be an issue and if you tilt it at the right angle, you wont have a problem getting the liquid to come out on its own - if its not, then try a different angle until you find the sweet spot. The water bottle idea is definetly the easiest and I'm sure it works, at least it does with the 3 that I own. its also a great way to sneakily bring little things around in every day life. nothing wrong with having cute water bottles
