Please give me your honest thoughts on these! :)

The Poem:

Kindred Spirits hear my call
A kit I be but tiny and small
I have one wish before I fall
About my friends, please save them all

Goodbye(Short story):

Kaia struggled, pulling and screeching like a feral cat caught for the first time. The ropes wouldn't give. She looked about wildly, eyes wide as saucer bowls in fear as she saw the large fire for the first time. Smoke burned her eyes and nose as she coughed, trying to speak.

"Momma! Papa!"

Both elder cats didn't respond, eyes glued straight to the fire. Were they really just going to leave her here? Let her be sacrificed to some non-existent God? Kaia tried calling out again but like last time, she got no answer. They were. They were going to let this grotesque scene play out.

Kaia snatched and chewed at her bonds, happy as one of her legs, her front left, became free. One of the cats bearing her towards the fire grinned at her maniacally.
"You'll be torched to a crisp before you get the other three off."

Kaia held his gaze for a moment, determination building in her eyes, "Bet." Kaia retorted and swiftly went to work on her right front paws bonds.

Sure enough, Kaia barely started on her bottom left leg before the flames surrounded her. The cats gathered in a giant circle and began chanting a haunting, howling type tune that scared Kaia. Adrenalin seemed to fill her body and she chewed like a crazed cat at the rope, growling and yowling every few seconds as fire licked at get fur and body.

Maybe it was the Gods answering her unspoken prayers, but rain began to fall in fast, heavy drops. While the water felt nice, there was still the one restraint to go and the fire was hardly put out. Cats from the circle who were feverishly throwing more wood on the pile were also ducking to avoid swipes from Kaia as she alternated chewing and trying to get a hit or two in.

Within a few minutes, Kaia was free. The fire, however, was still roaring and the crazy clan of cats hardly seemed ready to give up their chosen sacrifice. They were bristling, growling at her.

"Stay there, Kaia!"
"This is for us, please!"
"You'll doom the clan!"
"You were raised for this!"
For a moment, Kaia's eyes scanned the crowd. Her eyes landed on her mother.

"I was raised for this, mother?" she asked loudly so that there be no doubt what she'd said. There was no remorse in the molly's eyes as she nodded with a glassy eyed expression, "Yes, yes! You were so-"

It took a moment, but Kaia jumped from the burning, crumbling wood to land in front of her mother. Her fur was singed, eyes watering and red, a few spots especially on her belly were burned to the point of blisters, but she was alive.

"Consider me dead then. You'll never see me again." Kaia snarled, tail lashing. For a moment cats swarmed them, but a large black forest cat emerged, Kaia's father.
"Let her leave. I shall take her place."

She hesitated only a second, then her feet were launching her across the yard and up, over the wall and onto the stones of the street below. Kaia briefly glanced back at the house and then began to run.

She ran until she could no longer. Kaia collapsed under a nearby bush, some of her wounds festering with infection while others just stung horribly. With a deep breath that hurt, Kaia closed her eyes. She needed sleep.
