SpinSpinSugar Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 I posted this on Fetlife, but may as well sling it up here too - can anyone else feel me?: s there such a thing as a little more into Nightmare Before Xmas than Barbie? I mean, I know Gothic Lolita is a thing, but it's more sexualised than most little-stuff I see, and more sexualised than I really am comfortable with little-wise. I get it, seeing my cute cotton panties is a turn-on, the whole kink has sexy overtones, but the Lolita aesthetic creeps too close to pedophilia for my tastes. My main issue is everything I see is cute but it's also very very...pink. I hate pink. But let's talk about what I love: I love purple. I love Nightmare Before Christmas like wow - seriously you've no idea, I had my room covered in the merchandise back in the day. Corpse Bride is just as good. Beetlejuice was my favourite movie for years and I still love the cartoons. The creepier and more goth-as-fuq, the better. Barbie doesn't interest me. But cute spider plushies with felted fangs? EEEEEEEEeeeeee, gimme!!! (Please, yes I remembered to say please) I always thought Wednesday Addams was the luckiest girl ever to have such amazing parents and such a brilliant home life - I didn't care they looked weird; her mum and dad loved each other dearly and loved their children. I point out now what a great family dynamic they had to anyone who will listen. And Wednesday Addams was unforgivably strange - mostly because she had more self awareness than she should have had at her age. It's something I admire in my adult-brain, but my little-self would probably have followed her around in fascination. I wish I could pull the whole -wearing-so-much-pink-it-looks-like-I'm-wrapped-in-cotton-candy look off. But even though I love Frozen, and 'Brave', and typical mainstream type little-stuff, I'm still a gloom-cookie at heart, and even as a little. Dress me in black dresses with white collars, Mary Jane shoes, and stitch my teddy bear with black thread like Frankenstein's monster. Halloween will always be my favourite holiday, even over Christmas, and it bums me out the UK thinks Halloween is an American fabrication (and therefore despises it purely out of principle - but if you think Halloween glorifies disturbing things, let's talk about Bonfire Night, shall we? O_O). I'm more likely to enjoy weird, surreal films over the super-cute kid offerings; Polar Express, Rise of the Guardians, Legend and The Dark Crystal. I'll have to find a way to blend it together somehow, still hitting that 'little' space in my head while allowing myself to embrace my inner Wednesday. 7
Guest Penny Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 I'm the same way, when I was a kid I did love Disney movies and stuffies and pink but I also loved tales from the crypt, scary movies and the Addams family. When I'm in little space I tend to do things like wear cute bows and pink and rainbow socks while watching the x files You just have to be you. There's no right or wrong way to be little and if what you're looking for isn't out there then don't be afraid to create it yourself! I for one have always been and always will be one of the wendsday girls 1

SpinSpinSugar Posted September 12, 2015 Author Report Posted September 12, 2015 Verily. These are my life goals now. Excuse for shopping, go!
bunnny Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 even though most stuffs are pink and stuff there are always cute alternative things. I love care bears (obv) and lisa frank but I know I like Burton, The Munsters, and various other things... I'd just explore it the best you can. For bath times and stuff there are some people on easy who make lovely dark theme ones like a black rose one I'd gotten. I also love to collect living dead dolls and I know how hard it is to fully immerse yourself in a little space that's usually pink and colorful. but Penny is right, there is no right or wrong for being little <3 1
SpinSpinSugar Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 Ooh the Living Dead Dolls, I forgot about those! I really should search some out, cheers for the reminder!
Kitten Cupcake Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 I've seen a lot of variety in other littles and I glad I wasn't alone on this I love pink but I also LOVE black. I range from loving different even in music, pink-black/pop-metal. For me I don't have to stick to one thing just because others want me to or whatnot I like what I like whether it's an epic gothic dress or a pink ruffled dress. I was "gothic" as a teenager but I grew out of stigmas/categories and whatever they are called my memory seems to fade me since I just woke up. But I decided if I like it I LIKE it and I don't really care what anyone else says. My entire room is hello kitty but I love a lot of things and I like to see other littles who also like different things 8D. We all don't just have to like pink or bright colors! we can like dark colors too or different things! ♥ --- I miss skell animals at HT they don't sell em anymore :c

Lisa Posted September 22, 2015 Report Posted September 22, 2015 I used to try to sleep like Wednesday with my arms crossed on my chest when I was younger. *so odd*
FattieJessie Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Same for me. I don't like wht "usual" little like. I only wear black and all my stuffies are in the weird side and my little me love running around naked and dancing on Metal ^^
DaddyJsPrincess Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Omg, my people. I do like some of the typical superpinkandgirly stuff, but I will always be a nerdy little goth girl at heart. I'm a very lucky girl to have a Daddy that is interested in darker stuff too. We actually met in a haunted house! I was introduced to him the day we filmed the commercial. He was the crazy doctor and I was his nurse and he stabbed me with a scalpel. :3 He doesn't share my love of scandinavian power metal, but nobody is perfect. And even though he thinks they're ridiculous, he's taking me to see Kamelot soon anyway cause he's my Daddy and he loves me.
Guest Tooshytoshine Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 I love everything about this thread. 1

I started off with cult classics and silly b-list ones and moved up to really scary one in different languages with English subtitles so it wasn't too scary at first.
chubbylittleseal Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 I have found my people!! I like being creepy-cute ( i also don't like horror movies too)
SpinSpinSugar Posted December 3, 2015 Author Report Posted December 3, 2015 Thanks to this thread, I have been binge watching all the Beetlejuice cartoons. They're my new jam.
Guest Jennyanydots Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 Wednesday Addams and Lydia Deetz were my heros growing up! ESPECIALLY Wednesday, but I never missed an episode of the Beetlejuice animated series either. Can I ask, where are you watching them? Or are they on DVD now? . . I must own them! Does anyone know Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl? ? ? I do believe you can find her on YouTube and am almost certain the creator is writing books, or has written books? ? ? Something about books. . .or prints??? I don't really know anything. Unfortunately I lean more toward Pastel Goth than plain old dark and dreary. Have you considered purchasing old ceramic dolls from thrift stores and such? They aren't the most cuddley, but I just had an idea it could be cool to give them new wigs (either black or pastel) and new clothes - some of them would probably fit in American Girl doll clothes, or you can browse Etsy for someone who could make them. . .I think that'd be creepy and awesome to look at, if not cuddly.
SpinSpinSugar Posted December 4, 2015 Author Report Posted December 4, 2015 Bunny posted a long list of cool stuff on page one of this thread. A link to the Beetlejuice cartoons is on there. I am very pleased!
Guest Jennyanydots Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 Oh thanks! I saw the post but didn't read through all of it :/ I'll go back and dutifully read the whole thread THANKS!
