Wow! Really sorry that this happen to you! I definitely recommend talking to someone on web cam before being in a relationship with him/her. And also use "Google Images" to check photos. Google Images let's you upload a photo and it will search for it on the Internet.

Hey! I know this thread is a bit old but I just wanted to add that if your using kik, there are apps and jailbreak things that can be used to make a "gallery" picture be labeled a "camera" one! It's happened to me before so I wouldn't recommend trusting that at all ^^

Another good bit of advice is have them write their username on a piece of paper and take a pic with it.

 

For example: I would take a selfie with a paper with LEXIGREMLIN written in black marker.

 

Another good idea is to at least get a # and talk on the phone. Or do a quick video call. Me and my Mommy met online via fandom RPing. We now talk on the phone, text, exchange pics and are planning on meeting at a pet expo in January (an actual pet expo, not a Petplay expo xD).

 

I would ALSO do a reverse picture search on any of their profile pics. On my phone, I hold my touchscreen and it gives me options including "search for similiar images on google".

That is so horrible!! I haven't encountered any fakes, but several guys who claim to be daddies, but just call themselves so while sending inapropriate pictures
