Why KiK?

I've never used it but it seems to be the program a lot of people here enjoy using. So why do you guys like Kik over something like Discord?

I kinda wonder the same thing. I myself dont really enjoy it as much, idk maybe I was in bad groupchats or something

Anonymity. I won't give some random person my phone number for something such as WhatsApp. Far easier than forum messaging. I have never used Discord so I can't comment on that. Edited August 19, 2019 by DaddyDoom

I don't give out any information such as a real phone number (ect) plus it's easy to use and most people have it.

 

I didn't care for discord.

 

Kik also is one of the only apps that doesn't make my phone freeze or mess up.

I never quite understood discord. I downloaded it once and it was too techie for me to understand... servers and chatrooms en a lot of people... I quickly deleted the app

Eh, I wouldn't be so sure about Anonymity. the report button is a dead giveaway that someone is reading along.

I prefer discord over kik, and the one kik ddlg group I was in has been shut down. Most of the kik groups I can see have some ridiculous upper age limit (as if that has any bearing on little me).

 

But, as well, the only group I tried to join on discord wanted to know my rl big age, and they got very nasty when I asked why. I understood immediately it wasn't a safe place to be little in any way at all, and because of that I think I'd be wary of discord groups in the future, and I won't seek them out.

 

Not that I mind people knowing my big age... it's here on the forum after all. It was their insistence on it, the first question. And I am okay, but I worry for littles whose big age is younger wandering into that.

 

PSA: No one can demand to know rl details about you. Sharing them is up to you. But demands for personal rl details are not good netiquette... plus it's creepy as all hell.

 

I think if I wish to join groups in future, I'll just have to go with 21+ bdsm groups, whether on discord or kik, and keep my role as little girl. But really, that's not the kind of space I was hoping to enjoy, so I'll probably just leave it.

I wonder the same thing! I downloaded it just for agere and ddlg groups, I use discord all the time. Maybe because they use discord only as their private? Not wanting to share with the rest of people? On some discord mods you can see what servers the person is in...

Also, Kik is popular because it's what's currently in fashion.  Another platform will most definitely come along sooner rather than later and then most people will transition over to that one, and so on.

Never used discord, not sure what it is... Kik is my go to, run several groups. It's a nice way to find new friends and chat easily without having too many personal details

I use both, Kik is easy and doesn't freeze your phone, it maintains anonymity but for me has the downside of never notifying me of new messages and I end up seeming like a ghosting person when I just don't receive the notifications.

 

Discord is nice, really cute and I can use it for those rare times I decide to play online games, I use it with my best friends in group calls and overall I find the aesthetic pleasing. 

 

So... I use both, but I prefer Discord.

I had a lot of problems with Kik, including a stalking incident. I will NEVER use it again, and it's cause some issues in the past with the public. (sexual harassment, distribution of child pornography, etc.) so i don't trust it or the people using it anymore. 

 

I love discord though since I've never had any issues over the last 2 years I've been using it. I use it for very specific groups tho.
