Promise rings and ring size?

My daddy and I will have been together for a year next month. For our anniversary I want to get us matching promise rings. They problem is I don't know his ring size (I doubt he knows either) and I don't know how to find out without spoiling the surprise.

I've thought of having him measure all the parts of his hand and say it's for a sculpture thing I'm doing but I'm not sure. I should also add that we are long distance.

Do you have any ideas or advice? Thank you

You could guess what his size is, and give him one. Like something inexpensive and silly, or with a symbol on it that he likes?
​ If it's too big or small you'll have a better idea of what size to get for the promise rings. 

 

Or here's a couple ideas for when you get to see him next:

Does he wear ANY rings?

You could be sneaky and borrow one when you visit to get it measured.

or tie a string around his finger, then measure that. You could say it's for science, or "so he won't forget something/you"

...or make up something kinky if you're into that so he doesn't think it's got anything to do with a ring.

Are you friends with any of his friends? If so, his friend could call him with you secretly on the line and the friend could ask him about the ring size as if he/she is just curious.

I ended up asking him to help me with an art project and said this; "So this may sound kinda weird but if you have a ruler/tape measure can you please tell me the length and width of both your hands and all your fingers?" and it worked like a charm. Edited August 21, 2019 by Daddys little Baby_Bear
