DollyD Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 Hi! Ever since I was little I've been scared of the dark, I always sleep with a night light (we have blue fairy lights wrapped around the banister on the stairs :3). But, I still get super scared, even now, with Daddy Bear asleep next to me I'm a little nervous :/ Does anyone else get scared? How do you cope? 1
Vlad ziva's Owner Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 Only if I've watched some horror movie that actually struck some nerve or something, or if I have been having nightmares and night terrors a lot lately. How do I cope? By keeping a 9mm close by lol 1
Guest littlemissragamuffin Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 I'm scared of the dark too. If I'm by myself I'll sleep with a dim light. Also it helps to keep me clam if I play music softly, almost to the point of bearly hearing it. I hide under the covers alot too Lol.
Guest Penny Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 I've always been afraid of the dark. I'm the only 30 year old that needs a night light and white noise to sleep
DollyD Posted September 2, 2015 Author Report Posted September 2, 2015 Vlad ziva's papa Kitty - haha! Hmmm, that'd work! littlemissragamuffin - I hide too, even if it's warm, I can't have any part of me poking out from under the covers X Penny - I'm 31, I feel like I shouldn't be scared. I have a white noise app, the rain noise is quite soothing
Beckie Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 I'm afraid of the dark when I'm alone because of the inexplicable mysteriousness about it. I can't see what's gonna happen or if something is there and that scares me. I usually have a cuddle party with my stuffies or drink hot tea/cocoa to calm me down before I try to sleep. Maybe my (future) daddy and I could cuddle so I'm not so scared or maybe buy a nice night light for me.
ziva vlad's kitten Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 i can't sleep when there are any lights on, i have have to have it as dark as possible. But if i am not in bed, it's easy for me to become afraid of the dark. A few years ago for Christmas, my mom got me a switch with a cord that can reach all the way to my bed. So now i can turn the light on and off from my bed, and that helps a lot. i don't hide under the covers from the darkness, just from Thunderstorms.
FawnKitten Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 I get really scared of the dark when it's bed time. If my man is here I'm normally fine, but I cant go downstairs by myself usually and have to get him to turn all the lights on in front of me.When I go to bed I normally have cartoons on the tv quietly and I feel a lot calmer and more safe 1
princess.kiki Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 i am afraid of the dark, have been since i was little. [if i am home alone, i leave a trail of lights wherever i go in the house. and i always have to leave lights on in different areas of the house (plus i stay up till the sun comes up)]. i have to have a nightlight in my room. or i keep the christmas lights on in my closet. i also cuddle my pillows/stuffies when i get scared. and i have to have a standing fan running while i sleep, for many reasons, but mainly because it drowns out other sounds. and the sound of it puts me to sleep. if i get really scared, i call Daddy
Babykneesocks Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 I've always been afraid too and as Beckie said it's because I don't know what's hiding there ._. So if it's my imagination that works to create those monsters in the dark, I use it to create knights and super heroes to kill the monsters ^^ it may seems weird but it had worked a lot when I had to go out at night ^^ 1
Guest Pouty Kitten Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 I am deathly afraid of the dark and slept with various night lights. My favorite one was the one that Daddy gave me- it's a stuffie Turtle and when you turn him on, you can choose between different colors and it illuminates stars :3 Not until recently, I've stopped using the night light and I just open my window wide open so that the only light that comes through is from the moon. It's helped me sleep a lot better :3
MrBonesWildRide Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 My fear of the dark fluctuates, honestly. I grew up in a place that got super, super dark at night (pretty much minimal light pollution area), so obviously scary movies affected my perception of incredibly dark spaces. The fear of something, ANYTHING lurking in the dark that I can't see freaks me out. With light pollution areas, I'm not that afraid. If there's lights around (street lights, building lights, etc) I'm not afraid. In my room I have some soft lights around - rather unintentionally though. But if it gets super dark and there's no one around I panic and run to light if I can. Or I do my business and run.
LittleAki Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 When Daddy is around, it being super dark doesn't bother me one bit. It's when he pulls a 24 hr shift at work, or is gone for an extended time that the all the noises our house makes at night absolutely terrify me. But there are things I do that help me out a lot. I don't close the main bedroom door (so light from the fish tank sneaks in), and maybe this is a little bit evil, but I slide a kbar my Daddy gave me under the mattress to where the handle just pokes out. It reassures me that if any bad monsters come after me, I can slice em up.
LB Chris Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 'Kay I'll admit get scared of the dark both indoors and out.
SnowPea Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 I am terrified by any place that is dark, quiet, or lonely. Our bedroom is upstairs, and my boyfriend has to go up ahead of me to turn the light on. Then I hop into bed and he turns off all the lights downstairs. He even asks me "Ready?", before the bedroom light goes off. C: It's the worst when I have a day off work and he doesn't. That happened today. I didn't go downstairs at all today. It's just too eerie..
Biscuit Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 im afraid of the dark so i keep the light on o:
Guest littlemissragamuffin Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 Oh wow, there's alot of us that are lol ♥
PrincessMyaAngel Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 I am afraid of the dark also. I sleep with two night lights in my room and the hall light on. A couple of years ago there was a power outage at night and I woke up and freaked out! 1
Little Mouse Posted September 6, 2015 Report Posted September 6, 2015 I am very afraid of the dark, especially during storms... I have to have my stuffie "Ruffles", be with daddy and have my fav blankie.... I have been afraid of dark all my life...
Little Mouse Posted September 6, 2015 Report Posted September 6, 2015 I know how you felt with power outage, I am the same way... I hate when power goes out...
Princess340 Posted September 6, 2015 Report Posted September 6, 2015 For a little while, before I met Daddy, I used to only be able to sleep in complete darkness and silence. But since I moved in with Daddy, I need to sleep with a lamp or night light on and my head under the covers. I don't know if that's because our room doesn't have windows or if it's just because I'm next to him but I'm hopeing that if we move, we will be able to sleep without night lights or lamps on. It'll certainly help with our electricity bill lol.
Guest maliishka Posted September 17, 2015 Report Posted September 17, 2015 I think I might be late to post on this topic, but I definitely am afraid of the dark. Especially if I wake up in the middle of the night from having a bad dream. I have too big of an imagination and my mind will start playing tricks on me thinking there are things in the darkness. I sleep with a night light on to make my room less scary at night.
Guest MyDaddyMyWorld Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 Used to be. For some reason the house I now live in is the first one where I am comfortable walking around in the dark at night. Only lived here five years and I am 44 years old. As a child I needed the light on outside my room til maybe early teens? Can't exactly remember, but yes I used to hate the dark. I sometimes walk along this walking/cycling path when its dark. There are no lights on there. I'm ok for most of it, as its not pitch black and I can handle that (kind of) but there is quite a long tunnel, and that IS pitch black. All the old movies and stephen king books come back in my head, and yep, monsters actually definitely live in there in those seconds hurrying through, trying not to be a loony and run screaming with my arms flailing around haha.
Prncs86 Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 I have always been terrified of the dark. I was locked in a dark room when I was a little girl because the therapist told my mother to do it to make me sleep. I've never quite gotten over the fear though I have gotten better. I usually end up throwing blankets over my head. When someone is in the bed with me I sleep ten times better. I'm single now so it's back to blanket coverings.
DeltaDDLG Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 I've never been able to sleep or be comfortable in complete darkness. There is something terrifying about not being able to see around you at night even though I know nothing is going to get me. I keep my curtains slightly open now as the red heart nightlight I had as a child/young teen is too creepy even. It's easier with daddy bear in bed with me but still really spooky.
