Guest Looby-Lou Posted June 17, 2019 Report Posted June 17, 2019 (edited) Hello, I don't think I've ever started a thread here before, I hope this one might be a nice idea...I've got a calendar with daily quotes and I'd like to share some of them. Or just ideas in my head. And I'm hoping other people will add to this with their own words of wisdom, funny sayings or cute memes.Basically anything that provokes you to think, or cheers you up, or helps you through the day.PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE AUTHOR if it's not your own made up quote. So here's the first one, something to bear in mind when you're finding things tough & might be tempted to give up:- Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I'll try again tomorrow" -by Mary Anne RadmacherI hope you like it as much as I do. I have it on my fridge and it often inspires me.Looby Edited June 17, 2019 by Looby-Lou
Guest countlieberkuhn Posted June 17, 2019 Report Posted June 17, 2019 Life getting tougher means God fears your progress. - Courage Wolf No idea who the actual author is, but I think this one is genuinely pretty good. It's a bit memey but I like the idea that sometimes all you need is to feel better about yourself is to view something from a different perspective. More religious people may not approve of this one though

More religious people may not approve of this one though So very often in life, all that makes the difference between being happy & unhappy is purely our perspective. There actually is a religious version of your quote, something along the lines of if you're having a tough time it's because God only gives you what he knows you can cope with. it's a nice quote, but I'm not religious so I can't recall it exactly, sorry. Thanks for sharing! Looby Edited June 17, 2019 by Looby-Lou
LittleTeacup Posted June 18, 2019 Report Posted June 18, 2019 Oh, I like this topic!!! I get a daily email with a peace related quote from the organization Pace e Bene. I've saved some of my favorites and I intend to write them on papers and tape them to the walls of my home someday. Here are three of them. "God's dream is that you and I and all of us will realize that we are family, that we are made for togetherness, for goodness and for compassion." —Desmond Tutu "The other primary experience we could move toward is that of an open heart continually emanating good wishes on behalf of others and receiving their warmth with grace and ease. Free from strong prejudices and biases, we gain the confidence of being able to love others unconditionally. We are in harmony with the world, with other beings, and with ourselves." —Dzigar Kongtrul, Training in Tenderness "The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them." —Thomas Merton

Guest Looby-Lou Posted June 18, 2019 Report Posted June 18, 2019 I think we need a funny one! I don't know where this originated, but for anyone a bit forgetful or who tends to dart from one thing to another... "I've mastered a new talent... Now I can forget what I'm doing while I'm actually doing it!" I'm very organised, but even so there's lots of times I'd leave my head behind if it wasn't stuck on my neck....sooo scatterbrained (I blame it on the unicorns playing in my head LOL). Looby
LittleTeacup Posted June 19, 2019 Report Posted June 19, 2019 Well, for funny quotes, let's reference the wisdom of Winnie the Pooh. "Well", said Pooh, "it's the middle of the night, which is a good time for going to sleep". "It's snowing still" said Eeyore gloomily. "So it is." "And freezing." "Is it?" "Yes", said Eeyore. "However", he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately". "Oh, Tigger, where are your manners?" "I don't know, but I bet they are having more fun than I am."
