Nannah Posted June 16, 2019 Report Posted June 16, 2019 Heyo ! I've decided to write DDlg novel for next nanowrimo (it's a writing challenge that takes place in november). My story happens in university and is about caregivers and littles who create a secret club (called "little school") in which they can experience this kind of relationships. They're gonna be about 3 caregivers and 8 littles. My main character Liam (who's non-binary) is new to all this stuff and never told anyone about their taste for things like pacis because they're ashamed of it, thinks it's wrong and no one would understand (Liam is a lot inspired by myself). I want to write about their hesitations and anxiety but also the amazement of being able to do for real things you barely dared to dream of. I would also like to show that BDSM doesn't have to be brutal like people picture it, and that BDSM in general and little play in particular is not sexual in itself. I feel it's important to talk about those subjects because I know what a lonely feeling it can be to be into this kind of things like we are. I used to believe I was a freak. Now I know I can find like-minded people and it makes me most happy. I want other people to be the same happy and most importantly to understand there's NOTHING shameful or dirty. It's gonna take me a lot of courage to let people I know read it, though, because it's a part of me I don't feel like disclosing (and some are so vanilla) - but like I said, we mustn't feel ashamed. So this forum is gonna help me a lot as I lack experience and some knowledge and a caregiver's point of view. I'm currently reading through the rules topic in little space to give me some ideas for the little school. I hope my story's ready to be written by the 1st of november ! I wish to work really hard and seriously on it ! 3
lilybell Posted June 16, 2019 Report Posted June 16, 2019 This is so great! I’m really proud of you for Being brave enough to write what you truly want to. It isn’t easy to do that and I think your idea sounds amazing! 1
Nannah Posted June 16, 2019 Author Report Posted June 16, 2019 Also I forgot to mention I want to include something about mental health because I noticed from the rules that a lot of littles seems to have mental health issues and being little, having a caregiver and rules are a way to cope with it.
~Lost_Little_Searching~ Posted June 16, 2019 Report Posted June 16, 2019 Oh my gosh! This novel sounds awesome!! I can't wait to read it!!!!
Nannah Posted June 16, 2019 Author Report Posted June 16, 2019 Uuuuuh I have bad news though, this will be written in french, I'm close to fluent in English but not writing-a-book level
lovebites30019 Posted June 17, 2019 Report Posted June 17, 2019 Mental health is a big problem for littles! The most common I have seen is anxiety and depression. What an amazing idea!
Little kaiya Posted June 17, 2019 Report Posted June 17, 2019 (edited) Mental health is certainly a problem for some littles but it isn't for all littles and honestly I don't really think it's more of an issue in the DDlg community than any other alternative community. Adding a mental health element isn't a bad idea but I'm going to suggest try not to make it a major theme. A lot of people outside the DDlg community already think a lot of people inside the community are mentally unwell. Making mental health a major theme may serve to reinforce that idea and exacerbate a negative, and imho incorrect, stereotype. Anxiety, depression childhood issues, etc., abound in EVERY community, why would we want to try and say they are any worse or more prevalence in our community?? Rather than contributing to that misconception maybe acknowledge the mental health element but put more emphasis on showing people the DDlg community is varied and diverse and really no different than any other community.
