Himedere-Chan Posted April 17, 2019 Report Posted April 17, 2019 (TLDR version down below.) So I read that the princess little role can be dominant and usually is dominant. Well let me suggest a different princess type, (aka how I see real life princess act) Imma call it the Disney Princess cause Disney is awesome and the princess in the films have a more gentle attitude. Never demanding in fact they’re quite selfless. Now that’s how Disney spins it, but I did say real life princess, those princess had 0 control of their lives and were used as peace treaties.. xc But some didn’t mind it cause it was for the good of the people. TLDR: there’s the modern term of princess which is adorably demanding, and the princess type I’ve always seen which are soft spoken and selfless. Feel free to lemme know whatcha think! 1
Guest QueenJellybean Posted April 17, 2019 Report Posted April 17, 2019 this is a cute idea, but have you ever heard of the Cursed Princess Club? because we exist too. 1
Himedere-Chan Posted April 17, 2019 Author Report Posted April 17, 2019 Obviously not and no information about it save for the title so no, 0 clues. Cute idea though.
Guest QueenJellybean Posted April 17, 2019 Report Posted April 17, 2019 it's actually a webcomic! you should check it out, if you like darker stuff. 1
Littlest_Bee Posted April 17, 2019 Report Posted April 17, 2019 So, I saw this and I've been trying to find the webcomic but the links I found say it's not available anymore. But while I was looking I remembered that a few years back there was a campaign to raise awareness of chronic pain illnesses that was called something like "The Princess and the substance P" after the princess who was sensitive enough to feel that little pea through several mattresses. I found a link to a promotional mug. (https://shop.spreadshirt.co.uk/fibromyalgia/princess+and+the+substance+p+mug-A17970540?size=29 SFW) I wonder what category of princess she would fall into. I don't think we ever get to know more about her than her being very sensitive. I think the perceived dichotomy is based on romanticised ideas about the past in a lot of ways. And a lot of people think about the privilege a princess would undoubtedly enjoy without thinking about the responsibility of being royalty. Especially because the life of ordinary people was much harder in so many ways. I understand why it's easy to think of royalty as spoilt tyrants. (Who hasn't heard the story that Marie Antoinette supposedly said the starving peasants should simply eat cake if they don't have bread? There's no evidence to suggest she said it. It was probably taken from a story and attributed to her but people like to get properly outraged to justify why she was beheaded.) Leaders are often idealised but also often demonised. Real people are more complex than their public image. So, I think it's reasonable to expect more than two categories. Though it's interesting that you identified these two as "the archetypes" so to speak. I hope my comment makes sense despite me going on for so long. I'm having one of my bad days so I'm a bit unsure that I'm being coherent. Wish you all the best 1
