LittleCelticLass Posted March 28, 2019 Report Posted March 28, 2019 I'm an avid camper, and I fish and shoot archery, plus I garden. So food would not be an issue. Plus, I study herbal and medieval medicine, so I can act as a medical helper. I can also weave and sew, so clothing is covered as well. I'll be fine if the shtf.
Guest flowinghairdd Posted March 29, 2019 Report Posted March 29, 2019 I'm a reasonable cook. I feel like I give decent advice. I give good snuggles. On this climate change thing both groups on wrong. I think its worth remembering civilization is pretty adaptable. Stalinist Russia or Nazi Germany are examples of weird civilizations that lasted. People have lived in the desert, caves, and arctic, and they all had civilization. Also climate change may still be reversible, but its debatable. However, this talk about "the predictions are unknown is wrong." Currently, humanity is experiencing the worst case scenario for any of the models. Most of the models that are cited as this will be the cost, but that seems to high by conservatives imagine unrealistic technology. The real bad scenario is massive affects in the Global South, internal movement of people, but still societal structure. It may just be we live in a society with the disease, famine, and drought conditions humans always experienced before the industrial revolution, and way less bio diversity. 1
Song`rim Redtide Posted March 30, 2019 Report Posted March 30, 2019 In terms of general skills, I'm fairly handy with most technology, I tell stories decently enough to be entertaining if need be, as well as I study people for various things as a result I'm fairly good at either escalating or deescalating a situation depending on my mood and the entertainment value I gain out of it, this fairs better in person as opposed to online. I can cook adequately and so long as a recipe and ingredients are provided I can make it; though experimental cooking is real fun. I approach things as logically as I can which has the downside of me usually being insensitive to others emotions which has lead to conflict in the past and will continue to do so. As I generally avoid what most people consider relationships I don't consider anything I can bring to such a thing valuable, that being said in terms of relationships such as friendships I generally end up in a weird advising role to most people, I have relationships built of myself only providing advise and nothing else. So considering what i end up in I offer generally good advice. In terms of long term survival plans. Writing is a finicky mistress and I don't see myself as having much value in terms a financial stability long term as a result outside of getting lucky; however, I like writing too much to really care and life frankly is too short to not enjoy it even if my quality of life may greatly suffer long time as well as life expectancy. My interest are relatively generic for my age aside from my obsession with reading and writing but gaming is such generic interest. Outside of that I have several strange hobbies that center around being entertained. I don't really considering any skill I have to be anything above adequate and joke that as a result I'm a true jack of all trades as I never really master anything but I am fairly average with just about everything I ever dabble in. I am perfectly content with that so I guess being able to just let things be would be the only real amazing skill I have oh and adaptability. Anyways surviving without power for a few weeks been their down that. It's surprisingly easy aside from the lack of airflow for sleep, and finding a way to stay cool in hot regions without any real way to do so. Aside form that their are plenty of ways to find entertainment such as board or card games, and various methods of cooking and preserving food if need be and water filtration can be achieved so long as you don't mind odd tasting waters and are aware of what dumps what where in what waters. How would I survive something like say a total societal collapse. Assuming that whatever it is doesn't outright kill me, realistically I don't survive very long as I care little for living or dying and just enjoy being entertained in a society collapse realistically my world view would have me dying early though completely content with my entertainment. Assuming I'm wrong and I survive through usage of people skills and manipulation I'd end up on my own most likely utilizing books to figure out how to survive on my own whether I succeed or fail would depend completely on how fast I comprehend what I read and how I would utilize it. So in a societal collapse I die early on content with my death and full on entertainment or survive long enough to end up branching off from a band of people with just enough for myself and die alone a few years later due to my luck and lack of entertainment to give me a reason to want survive in the first place.
