What do you have to offer?

I have seen countless posts about inadequacies, fears/doubts, issues, etc. What I really want to know are the good things about you. What makes you unique? What is different? What talents do you have? When it comes to a relationship what do you bring that has value?

Let's eliminate a few things really quickly. Disney, art, cleaning, and sex. Nearly everyone is capable of those topics in some manner.

How do you provide a stable future? What interests do you have? What are your amazing skills? If the power goes out how would you survive long term?

I have previously heard from those that want to help others via a master's degree, a medical student, someone that wants to preserve art and history. There are a lot of great people on here with large ambitions.

i like the if the power gos out how long would u survive part,

well im in Canada and the power only ever gos out during winter so we have a nice high up porch so assuming it will be out for a good amount of weeks id have all frozen food in a cooled and locked up outside so that it stays cold n frozen of course have everyone in the house together with as much blankets and pillows for warmth and if u have propane and a lighter then u can use the stove now water is much more harder but im assuming the power was expected to go out so of course id have buckets ready, not to mention id have the generator and enough gas to get through a good week and a half only using the power for whats really needed. and of course have cash on me so that if i can go to a store that is open i can buy more food and medicine if anyone gets sick also prob get everyone to go to the bathroom outside so that it doesn't sit in the toilet and stink up the house and so that we don't waste water flushing it

Well then! I shall see myself out! *Slams door*

Just kidding. What makes me unique? Hmm... I was taught how to code from an early age? Different, I would say my experiences in occupations are different. Talents, psshhtt, what can't I do? lol! :p jk, I'm not sure about talents because I tend to learn everything about something that I want to do and when I get bored I'll move onto the next thing, which is why I can play instruments that I don't care for. Relationship one doesn't apply to me. Stable future, I have a 10 year plan which is... going. I have a lot of interests which change now and again. My amazing skills include building IKEA furniture, taking apart cars and computers and putting them all back together again... I can cook too but I don't enjoy it anymore.

Your last question made me giggle because I live in the countryside and the power goes out quite often. I have torches and books. I've had to throw things out from the fridge/freezer before, so depending on how long the power was out I'd have to drive to the shops and get more food.

Thanks for the replies so far!

Let's assume there are no more supplies and stores? After all the average human is 3 days from being supplied with resources if trucking is disabled for any reason.

I love the self sustaining info not to mention engineering !

I am amazing at the piano, so much so I was going to play as a concert pianist until I realized that for the first 4 or 5 years you're doing it you're lucky to make 5 or $600 a performance and roughly $17 an hour which is just two dollars more than minimum wage in my city. Not to mention those same 4 or 5 years are spent being under the tutelage of some guy whom you've probably never heard of :(

Oh, in that case the survival course I took would finally come in handy lmfao.

All virtuoso make incredible amounts of money. Hillary Hahn for example makes 50k per performance. I know I have made less than "I am worth" for years in order to build my value and proveable ROI.

Eh, as I got older I kinda grew out of it over time. Would've been nice though :p

I used to play with a well known symphony. I would suggest picking it back up again. At the very least it could be a skill that could be passed on to another generation! Not to mention I love the piano!!!

Super awesome! I wish I could take a long term survival course. Although I think that should have been our parents responsibilities.

Its funny that you mention that, before I was an accountant I was a private piano instructor! Amazing job, but the hours were total crap. $40 an hour means nothing when you're only working 9 or 10 hours a week

$400 a week puts you in a decent income bracket providing you're able to take on additional projects!

I think what makes me unique is that I grew up on a farm and in a big city. I developed a wide range of interests/skills and observed people living completely different lifestyles which has given me a unique perspective. My greatest talent is the ability to learn quickly and my greatest skill is self-discipline.

The value I bring to a relationship is stability and communication. Being a single father for the past 15 years I’ve perfected what it takes to be a man others can depend on.

If the power goes out survival won’t be an issue. I have a 3 month emergency food and water supply and the resources to protect it. If it's long term, I’ve hunted all my life and have spent consecutive weeks in the forest on solo hunts. Also, there's plenty of people unable to defend themselves. I will take everything from those people if needed. There's no line I won’t cross for the survival of me and my loved ones.

I would certainly consider you high value.

My survival skill is that I sprout giant tendrils w/ giant leaves and begin photosynthesis. And I’m so full of trash already that any old pond water will do, blue algae or otherwise. My body will be like “eh, it’s still water.”

When our power goes out, I am B O R E D. My brain is basically dead from so much daily use of technology.

I used to play guitar, write, draw, read, paint, piano, ukulele (but the hipster disease is gone now  ).

Guess what I do now? Nothin’.

Maybe minecraft. I guess I will go outdoors and IRL minecraft. Or read a... book  lolololololololololololol Not really.

The power would need to be out for a long time in order for me to snap outta this insta-gratification mindset and actually have a life. And by that time the zombies will already be feasting on my kibble ‘n bits.

P.S. I am workin’ on regaining an actual life.

Woodwinds are pitiful. A true person of high moral character plays strings or (I think the piano is this) percussion

Nothing wrong with admitting everything wrong with today, no matter how sarcastically.

Within the next year I hope to be 80% self sustainable. That is certainly no small feat considering the government and commercial tit we are dependent on.

How do you think would be the easiest way to make the drastic change?
