LittleTeacup Posted March 6, 2019 Report Posted March 6, 2019 I suppose what I've tried (and failed) to communicate in this thread is that while the evolution of phones in the classroom is new, challenges are not. As in, 'If it's not one thing, it's another.' Here's a quote: It's attributed to Socrates (469-399 B.C.). The problem is not new....phones may be, but it's just a new way to have a very old problem. I've seen that quote before! I love it because it shocks people who think all the problems are new. I don't have a problem with the kids, but with parents who give their kids phones to play with at very young ages, companies who make addicting games to market to kids, schools that allow kids to play on their phones during class, etc. And it's certainly not only kids who are too addicted to technology - many adults are just as bad or worse! It's a society problem, not a "kids these days" problem. 1
