What are munches like?

hi everyone! 

 

i really want to make little friends and i'm curious about attending munches in my area (NY). i'm a little nervous so i just want to know how munches have gone for you all.

 

did you bring anyone? make friends? did you feel comfy? how often do you go? etc.

I’ve never been to one either, but I think it’s basically like a bunch of people go out to eat and are able to socialize with other kinky people.

I've never been to a munch for DD/lg but I have been to a BDSM munch before. The people there were very welcoming and fun. 

 

It was many years ago but iirc this is how it went:

I went alone to the restaurant and they had a private room reserved. I went in the room and quietly sat by myself, but it wasn't long before I was greeted by others. When everyone was there, they went every the room and had everyone introduce themselves. I did make friends there and it was a lot of fun.

 

Course, every group is different. I bet you'll have fun though.

I am one of the co-hosts of the NYC DDlg munch.  There are 4 cohosts.  2 Bigs and 2 littles.  We want it to be welcoming to everyone.  

 

Munches are very casual social gatherings. They usually take places in restaurants or bars.  Everyone dresses in normal clothes and, well, acts normally.  Or, at least in the standard way you act when interacting with people out of the community.  The restaurant staff has no clue what our social group is about.

 

There are name tags and lollypops.  People are very nice.  Everyone is there because they want to meet others and make friends.  When someone is shy (as people often are, because it's scary) we try to engage them, but not in an aggressive way.  Someone is welcome to sit alone and watch people talk if that's really their thing, but we try to make sure no one is left out because they are afraid to talk.  

 

The DDlg munch get a good mix of Bigs and littles.  Predominantly Daddies and little girls, but occasionally a Mommy and a little boy.  And pets are welcome too.  My kitten is one of the co-hosts.

 

I also attend as many other munches as I can. I highly recommend the Harlem Munch and also Decadence Brunch Munch.  The thing about Decadence Brunch Munch is it's the only one (I am aware of) that takes place at a private club and goes right into a play party.  It's 1 Sunday a month.  Brunch from 12-3 and then play party from 3-7.  Some come just for the munch.  Some stay for the play party. It's a great atmosphere. They put out delish food and even have someone making custom pancakes.  I get one in the shape of a bear.
