Tianna2197 Posted January 29, 2019 Report Posted January 29, 2019 All spider phobic people, did you know that JRR Tolkein (The Hobbit and LOTR author) was bitten by a dangerous spider when he was a child? He was afraid of them all his life, which is why he put them in his books! (Your phobia is called Arachnophobia by the way). When I got to those parts of the books I freaked out and couldn’t read them for a while. I had to get a friend to read those parts out loud to me. Hahaha it’s silly to say that out loud.

But could you read Gollum creeping up on Bilbo in the Hobbit? I used to read the story to my Little in a Gollum voice and she hated it!

Guest MoominPoppa Posted January 30, 2019 Report Posted January 30, 2019 I'm scared of the dark I'm TERRIFIED of storms and cry when I hear thunder before storm is even here I'm scared of being out alone / big events / crowds in fear of something happening to me Basically. Everything. I'll just stay home safe inside with all my lights on lol Why do you get scared of thunder and lightning?

junebug0325 Posted January 30, 2019 Report Posted January 30, 2019 I’m scared of a couple things, most of which stem from childhood trauma. 1.) The dark 2.) Tight spaces/small spaces 3.) Loud sounds If I know I’m going to encounter these at any point during my day, I try to bring a small stuffie that can fit into my pocket or bring Daddy with me if he’s able to come.
dollybabycakes Posted January 31, 2019 Report Posted January 31, 2019 I am terrified of spiders, I freeze when I see one and usually start to cry... especially if it's a huntsman which I see a lot being in Australia. Awww. I relate! I grew up in Aus and am absolutely terrified of spiders (even the little daddy long legs lol). I was bitten by a spider when I was younger so that certainly hasn't helped with my phobia. Also, I'm so scared of insects and birds. Pretty much anything that can fly. And I'm a little scared of the dark but it's getting better.

One of my fav aunts got diagnosed with (early stage) ovarian cancer and thankfully she’s ok now. I’m extremely scared of losing my loved ones to death and not being told, hence I insist on communication regularly. Some recent events occurred and I’m having huge issues with separation anxiety with my CG, but I’m thankful I’ve friends in the community who’s been supportive. Scared of roller-coasters/thrill rides. Too scary for me. Scared of being trapped alone in the dark - legacy of a decade of bullying. I’ve seen huge huntsman spiders, they are huge and scary! Yikes! I almost touched one when I returned home during my year in South Aus! Can’t believe a spider could get that huge! I’m also scared of snakes, creepy crawlies and deep water because I almost drowned as a kid... Being lost I’m kinda (infamous) for being lost in unfamiliar places and my friends usually knows to provide clear instructions lest I get lost (again) and panick. Oh and I’m also afraid of not being liked Just remember to breathe deeply when you can. Many Littles here who have said they are afraid of crowds also have small stuffies or a figurine they keep in their pocket when they need to be in crowds!

Death is hard and so is trauma from being bullied. You can find many good resources online meant for adults to help you process how to cope with these feelings when you are struggling. Try writing your feelings down in a journal as well!

Nathalie Posted February 3, 2019 Report Posted February 3, 2019 I HATE frogs ... They freak me out on a visceral level, the way snakes do for some people. Of course it didn't help that where I grew up they were EVERYWHERE (including the bathtub sometimes) and my brother loved to chase me with them, or toss them at me I don't think it affects my life negatively but it can be embarrassing how much they freak me out when for most people they seem very benign.

But I'm working on it so...lol I'm also scared of being alone or forgotten.
