BabyBunnyBunting Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 If someone wrote books aimed specifically at Littles, what sort of thing would you want to read? Would you want board books and pages with interesting textures? Sophisticated artwork or simple cartoon styles? What would the writing be like? 1
Momma'sBoy Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 Personally I love when mommy reads to me "Go the f**k to sleep" and "You have to f**ing eat". But that just might be me. Other littles might not like the potty mouth...
Guest Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 I like touch and feel books. My favorites are books like Llama Llama. Too Pickley. The pictures can be more detailed, ususlly they are larger images. Water color like paintings. I would not mind regular or boardbooks. Boardbooks tend not to very complex or long stories. So for longer stories I would love to see regular pages.
Guest Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 Btw, it is really neat if you are thinking of making a book! 1
Angel24 Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 I like one's that involve the listener's participation:) Like "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" where you have to tell the pigeon "no" when he begs you to tell him drive the bus. It's a good interactive way for a storytime:) 1
SamL Posted January 6, 2019 Report Posted January 6, 2019 You'll have to identify what age you are targeting first. I've got two littles and a middle here - 2 1/2 yo, 6 yo and 14 yo. They certainly don't all like the same things, including books. For what it's worth though, the two and a half year old's favorite book is The Monster at the End of this Book starring lovable, furry old, Grover. The six year olds favorite book is Dogzilla, and ironically, my teenagers favorite book is Dear Little Ones...written for littles. 1
93243_1655600696 Posted January 7, 2019 Report Posted January 7, 2019 Tucking in and listening to an audio book is medicine for the soul. I recommend "A Little Princess" and "Secret Garden" by Francis Hodgson Burnett, read by Helen Stainer; "The Velveteen Rabbit" by Margery Williams read by Meryl Streep; and anything by Charles Dickens. All available on Spotify! As for physical books, I like the books I enjoyed as a child."The Do Something Day," "Miss Suzy," "The Grown Up Day," "White Snow, Bright Snow," "Madeline," "Bread and Jam for Francis," "Lyle the Crocodile," "Jessica," and the Berenstain Bears books. The Charlie and Lola series is also very sweet and clever. I was a precocious, imaginative child.
BabyBunnyBunting Posted January 7, 2019 Author Report Posted January 7, 2019 I sort of am thinking of writing books for Littles, but before we all get too excited, it wouldn't be for a long while! I've never written anything before (to be published) so I'm doing a whole lot of research first I just think it would be great for Littles to be writing stuff for Littles I love that everyone is talking about books I've never heard of before! I'll have to check them all out! 1
SamL Posted January 8, 2019 Report Posted January 8, 2019 I sort of am thinking of writing books for Littles, but before we all get too excited, it wouldn't be for a long while! I've never written anything before (to be published) so I'm doing a whole lot of research first I would be happy to make myself available as a resource if you wish. I've recently finished my second book (which is book one of a series) and have been a magazine columnist and later editor. If you have any questions I can answer, my mailbox is open.

Misha Posted January 13, 2019 Report Posted January 13, 2019 I like touch and feel board books with bright, colorful, cartoon artwork and at least 5 minutes of reading.
