Hi all,

I want to go more plastic free. But how can I do that as a little? Does anyone know tips or tricks? I want to be more eco friendly.

So I bought secondhand stuffies and washed them. I made my own onesies out of stretchy T-shirts. Sometimes I just drink water out of my sippy cup and sometimes some apple juice. (For example)

But my main goal is to go plastic free..

I just don't know any paci and bottle or sippy cup alternatives.

To swap a paci, I could suck on my thumb maybe?

It is supposed to stay fun, though..

But that's quite hard to do, going all plastic free as a little.

Hey Lis,
Becoming plastic-free and-echo friendly is an awesome thought.
However, being practical you may want to do this in small steps by reducing use of plastic gradually starting with plastic bottles.
Even though you maybe able to find sippy cups made of glass, I'm not sure if there's an alternative for paci.
Alternatively, you may want to get a quality paci and use it for much longer time than usual, therefore, by not replacing it often you're still doing your share to keep the environment plastic free. In addition, look around if any are made of bio-degradable or recyclable material.
If you do start replacing your paci with your thumb, make sure your thumb nail is at its shortest and your thumb is fully clean for each use.
Good luck!

Wow I misread this whole thing with ‘plastic Tree’ instead of ‘plastic Free’ and was like, what is this new type of Little? Foliage roleplay?

Plastic tree littles.

Anyways, what is the purpose of going plastic free? Economical and environmentally friendly?

Or because you personally don’t like the feel/smell of plastic or something?

Pacifiers don’t really call it quits very easily, nor sippy/bottles. So I wouldn’t say that’s a constant source of adding plastic back into the environment lol

You could get sillicone chews? For people with oral fixations? Again though- I don’t think adult pacifiers are a large source of pollution  compared to other things the general population is consuming.

So m curious.

Yes, I want to be more environmental friendly and I think that every piece of plastic counts..

It's more curiosity by the way, I have a plastic bottle and the best thing I can do is keep it and use it till it's broken. Getting rid of the plastic one to buy a more eco friendly one would miss the point. It's already there, I already have it.

But still, I'm very curious how I can be a little, to be as much eco friendly as possible and to use as less plastic as I can.

I will use what I have, but I was curious about alternatives.

That's super interesting and a really nice way to live life both as a little and an adult. The real problem is actually single use plastic, such as plastic cups, straws and cutlery. So I would def avoid that first before anything.

But in terms of the paci, I don't think you should consider giving it up because it is something you can re-use over and over again. But I would be mindful on the way you dispose of it.

Living plastic-free can be hard, but there are lots of stores that are out there that cater to a plastic-free lifestyle and even for kids. So you could use those resources to buy products for your little self.

But I super like your idea of buying secondhand teddies and just repurposing them. To be honest you can wash them and just personalise them by putting some marks on them or something.

Hope that helps!

Thank you thisblueguy! I really like the idea of making the stuffies/plushies/teddies personal! I did wash them, but never thought of making them "my own".

Hi Lis

I love the earth and all cute creatures and animals on them and want to do my best taking super good care of them!

I have a few re-usable straw cups with a glittery bunny on them, I also have a mason jar with a lid with a hole in it. I use cute reusable straws to make it more suited to my little side.

One of my favoritest stuffies ever came from the thrift store! He is a super soft Crocodile and he looks brand new after having been washed.

My dream is to pick up a sewing machine so I can make onesies and customes from big clothing or curtains that you can find at the thrift store! That would be really economical too!

Also pick up hobbies like making your own deodorant, but make it smell like candy. And make your own zero waste soap, but with a lush like feel to it. Or waste free bath bombs, stuff like that. Also baking your own cookies, of course!

@Mintycrackers making your own onesies, your own bath stuff and baking your own cookies are super cool ideas! Thank you!

i try to be as green as humanly possible.. i havent found an alternative to binkies and i refuse to suck my thumb because i already have a big gap in my front teeth and thumb sucking is known to shift your teeth but ill customize my own to reduce money, shipping and my carbon footprint...if i get bored with how one looks i tear it apart, check the teet for wear and start all over again! All my bottles are glass (gerber makes them) I use mason jar sippy cups, all my little clothes and plushies are thrifted and i have a sewing machine to make my own clips and stuff out of thrifted materials. You just have to be creative!
