Guest CaptainAmerica97 Posted December 21, 2018 Report Posted December 21, 2018 I am just wondering if any has grown up in church from birth like I have and what branch of Christian you are. I am Baptist and I grew up at Bartimaeus Baptist Temple Church for the Elderly and Handicap in Dallas, Texas. The Church was started by Godmother's family and I grew up there so it is kind of like a home to me. I am just wondering if anyone has a church where it is like home to them also.
Guest jevoislavieenrose Posted December 21, 2018 Report Posted December 21, 2018 I’m Christian (and Baptist) but I haven’t found a church that I can “home.” Having a foundation in God’s word and people you can lean on and talk to for understanding and advice is so important. You’re very lucky to have that!!

I've been brought up in a Christian family (i think we're mostly Baptist) but we've moved around a lot so we haven't really stayed in a church long enough for it to seem like a family. We left the most recent last year, and haven't found anywhere else yet, but i think my faith has been kind of strengthened in that. You're blessed to have such a good relationship with your church
Guest PoohBearisLife Posted February 1, 2019 Report Posted February 1, 2019 I'm a Christian, too:) I'd say I'm non-denominational because I don't really understand denominations, but growing up I went to a United church and now I'm going to a very evangelical/baptist church. My grandpa's a Baptist and he taught me everything I know about the bible.
Inthedollhouse Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 No, I wasn’t raised going to church. My parents did not agree on religion so we just never went. Sometimes I went to Baptist church with a friend. I’m converting this year. I’ve been going to mass every week since last April and will be confirmed Catholic at Easter. I think the Holy Spirit called me to this church, and it has transformed my life in every way possible. 2
Guest lovetta Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 I'm Christian, too I guess I'm non-denominational because my family and I have gone to different denominations through the years but currently we go to a Methodist church. Here at college I don't feel like I fit into any of the nearby churches, but I feel comfortable at the Methodist church at home. It must be very comforting to have a church that feels like home
CryBabyUniWolf Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 I consider myself a spiritual Christian. A lot of other Christians kinda, stick their nose up at me. So I don't really know what you mean by "home". My home, is Heaven. It's honestly hard to find a real "homey" place. I feel like home, would be for me, the outdoors. I feel closer to God when in a peaceful place. Isolated by trees and a river... That sounds like a good enough earthly home.
BeckLynn42 Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) I grew up in a Christian household. My dad used to be a pastor even. I’m baptist. Edited February 4, 2019 by BeckLynn42
ShiBear Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 I grew up going to church every Sunday and Wednesday. A baptist church in my tiny town. While I still pray and love the lord, I keep an open mind and have my own views on certain things. It's cool to know that there are other Christians in this community!!
LittleRae Posted February 6, 2019 Report Posted February 6, 2019 I was raised going to church probably 4-5 days a week? My dad was the worship leader/elder/youth pastor/choir director/janitor. So we were super active in the church. When I moved out, I took a break from church until I met my Daddy (my husband) and now we both go to church together. He plays drums and guitar for the worship team, and I sing. We are also the heads of the children's church department through the church. It's really cool to see there are other Christians in the community!
Guest CharlieFPG Posted February 7, 2019 Report Posted February 7, 2019 I am a catholic, raised catholic, went away and came back to church recently. I'd say is a core part of my life and my routine, it helps me in many levels as well.
SamL Posted February 8, 2019 Report Posted February 8, 2019 I've never called myself a Christian. I've never heard anyone call me a Christian. But Jesus thinks I am.
DaddysLittleMiss Posted February 11, 2019 Report Posted February 11, 2019 (edited) I was raised non-denominational Christian as well. Grew up in an extremely conservative church (almost fire and brimstone at times) where, while many are good, kind people, there was also A LOT of the judgemental and “gotta look good in front of others” mindset. Went away for awhile as a young adult in an effort to search out the truth for myself and just found my way back to Christ a few years ago through a lot of research and personal education. Haven’t found a church I trust enough to attend yet though.......... still looking. Edited February 11, 2019 by DaddysLittleMiss
Guest Sweetbottoms Posted November 1, 2019 Report Posted November 1, 2019 I was raised non-denominational Christian as well. Haven’t found a church I trust enough to attend yet though.......... still looking. I am so sorry that you were at a church that preached the gospel of hate which is not God's truth. Not all non denominational churches are bad but I've been to a few that had questionable gospels. And I guess you can say I disagree with their doctrine. I a Lutheran Christian which just means that I broke away from the Catholic church the Catholics and lutherans are kind of related to each other like religious family lol But I chose the Lutheran doctrine Wisconsin synod. It has to do with the church is having a reformation. mainly because of my experiences of different church doctrines especially non-denominational practicing fire and brimstone the gospel of hate. yes of course there's a hell but we also need to remember that God's kingdom is open to anyone who desires and wants God and his son Jesus. Jesus loves everyone this is God's truth. I'm surprised they have not looked at the book of Luke Matthew Romans all of those quote you should not judge or you will be judged. why do you look at the sawdust in your brother's eye when you haven't look at the plank in your own eye?You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Matthew 7:4-5 Meaning why do you look at others but yet you don't look at yourself? You're a sinner too! Judge and you will be judged. These churches are not supposed to make harsh judgments upon other people it's against God's word and they say that they're faithful when it comes to God's word and truth but according to their sermon and gospel, it doesn't match up the God's truth. another problem I have with other churches and their scripture reading is instead of focusing on one book at a time they pop all around the Bible scriptures. they hop from New testament to the old testament to the New testament again to revelations and then to the old testament again saying that the old testament is about today which is not really true. So what I'm trying to say is I'm all about fact. I find the sermons extremely unorganized and more about personal experience versus God's holy word. Lastly, I find this very amusing but some of these churches do something called the Doomsday talk. Some of these churches or even organizations outside of the church talk about when Jesus is coming back and they know the date they know the time and they know that the rapture is going to happen. And so they talk about the end of the world and they talk about who's going to be able to go to God's Kingdom and they would even say there's a possibility that you won't be going to heaven because you don't know if God approves of you. the truth is if you chose God and have Lord Jesus Christ as your lord and savior then you already belong to God and he will take you . but these people go around saying that even their own church members might possibly not go to heaven and that disturbs me. they make things complicated and then people get confused and they don't know what to do with themselves I've seen it . I actually left the church because of the Doomsday talk.it was a non-denominational church that I used to attend but now I'm a Lutheran the lutherans don't preach that. The truth is not complicated God is not complicated it's very simple if you chose Jesus as your lord and savior got baptized and believe God and accepted him then that means you belong to God and you are going to heaven end of story ! very easy to understand. because God's holy Bible said so. I'll tell you some truths that I learned from God. God doesn't want his love forced upon you. If anyone desires God's love then they have to open their heart to him. if your parents forced you into church and forced you to be a Christian or a Catholic or a Protestant or whatever if your parents try to force God's love upon you that is not right God's love cannot be forced upon you. you have to be willing to choose him if you want his love. His love should never be a forced thing. Jesus salvation is free to anyone who wants it it doesn't matter what you've done it doesn't matter who you are .Jesus died for everyone every single one of us this is the fact and truth. people are going around telling people they don't deserve God's love and they don't deserve to be Christian or God' disciple. They do it to intimidate people. don't listen to them God is not intimidating he is love and a comforter. You are very important to him more than you think and you matter very much. Here's a truth that I think a lot of people don't know. Heaven and God's kingdom is not an earned thing. I will repeat heaven and God's kingdom is not an earned thing. So many Christians out there think of I'm a good boy or if I'm a good girl and I go to church and I pay my tithes my behavior is my ticket to heaven. And if you have any doubts you push youself harder as a Christian thinking at one point you're not good enough because you're weren't good or you made a mistake but that's not true. You are God's child already you already inherited the kingdom. Everytime you repent to God your sins rather you remember or not you can just say father I repent for my sins that's it you're forgiven cuz Jesus already died and that's more than enough to cover you and make you pure and white as snow. everyday from that as you repent and he cleanse all sins everyday you wake up the next morning with a clean slate clean meaning each day is brand new and cleansed of sin that is how that works. Anyone that tells you otherwise saying oh no you didn't make it right with God even though you repent. they are lying to you and they think God is an angry God and that he should be intimidating to you. His love is not intimidating. I said in another thread that love isn't intimidating. I don't think anyone can really feel love if they are intimidated well at least for me. And you don't get to heaven by being a good person. It is crucial to have a relationship with his son Jesus and it is crucial that you accept Jesus as your lord and savior. He wants a commitment with you as his bride as his groom. God loves everyone he wants you in his kingdom . By being a good person and doing good for others. It's important to have Jesus in your heart because work without faith is dead. I hope I have cleared a few things up and I hope people feel less intimidated by the Christian doctrine system. Laters
Guest Sweetbottoms Posted November 1, 2019 Report Posted November 1, 2019 I was raised going to Catholic and Lutheran churches and currently identify as a progressive Christian/Lutheran. ✨✨ The church I went to through most of highschool feels the most "homey" to me, especially since they welcome any and all people to be there. Yes! Finally a Lutheran!
