What do you do to make YOU happy?

Recommended Posts

I have found my self last days on a whole new level of sad (NOT depressed), and i wanted to know what things make YOU happy when you are sad?

What cheers you up?

All answers are ok apart from eating. Trust me, i dont wanna see ''i eat yummy sweets ^^" or i ll jump into your monitor and pinch your nose. -_-  ....................and MAYBE take some of your sweets on my way back .

It depends. If I have time, I will relax and let myself embody the sadness. I will let myself cry until I free the sad energy up. Sadness is an emotion we don’t respect the same way we respect happiness. We smile and laugh when we’re happy and we accept these behaviors everywhere. Oppositely, when we are sad, we try to hide it and become as happy as we can again and not fully letting ourselves surrender to sadness like we freely do to happiness.

So all in all, being sad and sharing it with someone always makes me feel happier. Talking to a friend who has my back and being in a space where it’s okay to be sad and not have to feel like I need to feel happy asap. Sadness is okay, it’s natural, and there’s no need to rush to feel happy if it doesn’t naturally happen.

I got to tell you...I'm leaning toward the offending statement just to see you crawl through the monitor.  :)

I do for someone else.  Take care of my littles and middle, volunteer, go to a soup kitchen and make conversation with the folks there, watch some of my favorite you tube video's.  Here's one:

Oh. My. Gawd.  You're one of those criers, huh?  Cool! Me too!  So now I have to give you two more since you liked that one.:)

Well look, I do hope your spirits lift - I am encouraged by the fact that in addition to being a crier, you also seem to have retained a marvelous sense of humor despite your sadness.  I rare feat accomplished by special peoples.

May be it's an old man thing, but I always felt better when sad by bringing back happy memories. Our memories are carved in our flesh, and sometimes a song or a smell will help trigger the memory.

And if in the meantime you focus on your breath and close your eyes...it's like you're living it again.

I'll do anything to keep myself busy. Something creative and that will keep my mind busy. A puzzle, drawing, coloring, arts and crafts, writing, word search. :)

music is a really big trigger for me, so listening to a playlist with music that makes me smile, feel safe or happy usually works well.

sometimes, the opposite works too!

a good song to scream to at the top of my lungs in the car is a really good way to get all my emotions out!

i've also noticed that even if it sounds stupid, taking a shower/bath, washing my face, putting on some lipstick, brushing my hair or teeth...

little bits of self-care can make me feel infinitely better about myself.

i can't tell you how important it was to me when The Giant shaved my legs after my surgery.

it made me feel so much better after a deep depression from being bed-bound.
