I think you can go to build a bear and they can fix your teddy!

re stuff him! so just go to your local art store buy some stuffing, open up the stitching and make him nice and fluff again.

then close him back up and poof! no more pancake!

I've had my teddy for 27 years. When it comes to keeping a stuffed animal in shape I'm a pro!

I think you should just restuff your teddy , I have the same issue with a bunny and I plan to restuff him too . There are probably some helpful videos on youtube or something to help otherwise I'm not sure if there is an easier way besides that good luck  :)

The best place to restuff a stuffie is parallel to the back seam or on the "crotch" seam. You need entry through the body so you don't stretch a limb or ear trying to force the stuffing through to the other parts. Do not actually open up a seam because you do not have experience, if you open a seam you can easily unravel everything. IF you know someone who is experienced, or go to build-a-bear, they will probably go for the seam, so don't freak out too much.

You need to also take into consideration of the material. If the material is getting thin or ripping as it is (on a large scale, you can line the inside of the stuffie as well. Make a larger/longer (new) seam and very carefully fold the stuffie inside out and line it with a more durable fabric. If there are small patches, consider actually making legit patches. They are durable, look cute on old stuffies, etc.

But all in all if you are afraid, I would recommend going to someone else. I had to sew my primary stuffie's foot after my brother made a mistake. I was too scared and didn't do it for months. If you are uncomfy with it, don't go through the mental anxiety and just find someone who has experience (as Raven brilliantly pointed out, BAB is best!).

You can get the stuffing they use at most craft or fabric stores. Get a proper quick unpick and undo some stitching along a seam. If you're worried about undoing more stitches when you stuff it, then put a pin or a peg on place so it doesn't pull on any more stitches. Also seams on teddies rarely go that far because they run over other seams which stop them unravelling too much. Imo cutting a hole will look kinda weird (even if in a "hidden" place), and there's more chance to cause damage if the fabric rips. Extra pulled stitches can be fixed so easily but creating a big hole isn't so easy to hide...

Then you can re-stuff them and sew it back up. If you don't know how to sew then this video gives a good tutorial for an invisible stitch. Even if you don't have experience sewing is easy to learn - or at least easy to follow along with a video for a little bit. :p It will look so much better than cutting a hole and adding a new seam line. ><

Also if you don’t want it to be lumpy, I’ve seen YT tutorials about making plushies and stuffing etc. (and done it myself) you wanna grab a large amount of stuffing, enough to fill the entire section that you’re stuffing (e.g. the arm, or the torso) and feed it through the hole keeping it in one piece.

Then mould it into shape.

Apparently stuffing handfulls in leads to lumpiness, and to smooth it out people accidentally overstuff them.

Just somethin’ to keep in mind.

Oh my goodness this is such a helpful post! Thanks to op for asking a question that is definitely a problem I have, and to everyone who had such wonderful answers.

I have a few stuffies that are definitely going to be getting some plumping  :)
