Herbabybee Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 Hi there! I’ve recently bought things for me and my girlfriend (we’re switches) to make our own custom pacis with, and I was just wondering, what kind of adhesive do you use for embellishments/centrepieces ect. Can you use all purpose adhesive or does it have to be a specific glue with it being resin?
Guest Arc Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 I use e6000 for pacis and bottles. It's super strong and everything I've made for myself and others worked out perfectly. ^^ I know someone who tried superglue and their stuff just fell apart so its probably worth just getting the e6000. ._.

Guest Arc Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 Pretty sure it is. It looks a little different to the one I have right now but it is a different size so packaging might vary. ^^
Herbabybee Posted August 31, 2018 Author Report Posted August 31, 2018 Pretty sure it is. It looks a little different to the one I have right now but it is a different size so packaging might vary. ^^ I’ve just googled it and it said it’s not a good adhesive to use on plastic? Are your pacis plastic based? I’m unsure it if just means bonding plastic to plastic and what packaging does yours have? I don’t want to get a fake copy!
Herbabybee Posted September 1, 2018 Author Report Posted September 1, 2018 All the things I’ve bought are flatbacked, it’s just confusing me because it keeps saying this in the description: NOTE: E6000 IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE ON STYROFOAM™, POLYSTYRENE, POLYETHYLENE OR POLYPROPYLENE PLASTICS
Little Illy Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Honestly, because it isnt for an actual child, most adhesives will work and be safe. e6000 is the common one I have seen when shopping and looking up DIYs, but I have seen a ton of people using a simple glue gun as well (I honestly dunno how I feel about that, but that is just me).It depends on the pieces you are gluing together, the intended use (are you going to use the pacies in a D/s session where they may need more durability?), and, honestly, how "cheap" you are going to make the item or how "Special". The best bet is to ask a mom or to ask a 3D artist with experience in a vast variety of adhesives and plastics. They could give you a ton of real-life practical use.
Little Illy Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 A glue gun isn't going to be as effective as the glue tends to weaken very easily and wont withstand multiple washes or a boil if someone feels they need to boil their product. That is what I figured - I never bought items assembled with a glue gun, nor have I used it myself. It was just something I have seen time and time again. The e6000 is the one I have been recommended to the most with.
Guest Arc Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 This is where I buy mine. https://www.spotlightstores.com/nz/craft-hobbies/basic-craft-supplies/glue-adhesives/glue/e-6000-craft-glue/BP80223847 If you buy it in a craft store or something you'll get the original thing. I never thought of eBay selling knockoffs but they probably do lol. I've so far made 6 bottles and 2 pacis using e6000 and it holds everything together well. Nothing has fallen apart even with all the times I've cleaned or boiled them. I also like that it doesn't set instantly because it means you don't have to work super fast and you can reposition things if you need. I make bottles like these and it would be so frustrating if I didn't have that time to adjust things ._.

Herbabybee Posted September 1, 2018 Author Report Posted September 1, 2018 Ah okay guys, thank you! It just worried me because my girlfriend is long distance and I’ve irdwred the pacis to hers and everything else to mine. I just didn’t want to get the wrong glue because when I go to see her it’ll be too late to get a new one then! I’m just confused as to why it says not to use it on plastic if it works so well?
Guest Arc Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 I don't know much about different types of plastics, but it says not to use with polypropylene or polyethylene plastics. I don't know what plastic pacis are made of but I'm guessing it's not those
TimidLittlePupen Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 E6000 tends to slightly melt plastics that are too much polyethylene but depending on how much they have it can sometimes lead to cool effects within the plastic piece such as face craft store jewels.
Herbabybee Posted September 1, 2018 Author Report Posted September 1, 2018 The paci is made with abs polymer. It’s just the average base pacis most people use
Guest Bunnyblossom Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 If you can’t get E600 (which most people use from phone case or paci customization) then you can try superglue that states in the directions that it’s for use on smooth-to-smooth surface adhesion. That’s what I’ve used previously and it’s worked perfectly fine. I’ve also used it to glue cabochons onto metal ring frames using super glue. Hot glue won’t be as effective though.
