Little Illy Posted July 31, 2018 Report Posted July 31, 2018 *Waves* Hey guys, as some of my friends know I have been under a colossal amount of stress lately (and thank all of you for showing support and care). A big part of the stress is due to the sheer amount of discrimination - which is making me almost powerless in my life. I don't have anywhere else to share this, and I honestly don't know why I feel the need to. Maybe because I just want to be heard; after many months of being dismissed. Maybe because people don't ever really expect Americans to be discriminated unless they have provoked it. I don't know. Maybe I just need to get it out there so I know my feelings have life and are real. I honestly don't know. I am sorry if this is cringe worthy. It literally took 4 minutes to write this so I don't except anything other than 'meh.' But thank you, anyone who takes to time. ________________________________ I am a human being. I am a person. I am an American. All my life, I have been an American - never thought to understand why it was a bad thing. Yet all my life, I have been Accepting - never turned anyone away because of who they were. I am not a stereotype. I am a person. I am an intellectual. I am an American. I am not misinformed. All my life, I have witnessed discrimination - never knowing why it existed. Yet all my life, I have been the victim of discrimination - never giving them a reason why. I am an American. I am a human being. I am more than what the media says I am. I am less of a monster you think me to be. I care for you, your family and your country. I don’t care for people in mine, those who don’t deserve it. I am a PERSON. A young adult who is tired of the old ways - ones where I don’t belong. A woman who is tired of the sneers - just for being me. A worker who is tired of the slander - because of what I may represent. A student who is tired of limitations - those that cheat everyone. A person who is tired of being considered less. I catch the irony. I am an American. Americans discriminate. Americans never learn. Americans are failing. But not all failures are American. And not all Americans are a failures. I am not America, and I do not stand as Her image. I am a person who wishes to be seen first and as her own. A person who cannot withstand the reputation my country has give me. Cannot stand the isolation these politicians have created for me. I am an American. But I am also a Human Being. 2
VanillaAlpaca Posted July 31, 2018 Report Posted July 31, 2018 You are an american, and I bet you also are an amazing person (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧ America is a marvelous country — I never was there, though... But I am not blind ヾ(。・ω・)シ I can see the amazing pictures of lakes, I can see the beautiful in their monuments. I can be astouned by their buildings, dazed by their lights, their culture... Which is not great, is what some people is doing to America. And maybe this isn't a great comment ヽ(。・ω・。)ノ but I needed to give you all my support on this matter.
Deadpool666 Posted August 1, 2018 Report Posted August 1, 2018 Unfortunately you seeing what most people do when they come here. American are hated in some countries but due to the worthless president and his hateful view of the work and what he is doing to allies. Most people are go but this is how we are treating immigrants so that's how we are being treated Illy I'm sorry your going threw this believe me I gone threw this racist and discrimination in this country Most people are good but due to our president who is our figurehead it is only going to get worst 1
Frog Posted August 1, 2018 Report Posted August 1, 2018 The problem is, this was going on even before the current administration. Many of us have faced racism from multiple sides, even the so-called "tolerant" ones. I've been told that I have no worthy opinion because I'm American (I'm a citizen of two countries) or because of my mixed race. I wish it were as simple as one side or one party, but it isn't. To push the blame on one administration or one politician is just ignoring the problem. So now we're faced with not being listened to, and it will never change. Yet the ones who hate us will demand we help them financially, politically, or militarily. 1
