Changing things up

In the normal day to day rat race, it can be hard to think of, or even enjoy, something other than the hurdles we are trying to overcome in life. In that vein, since I am a writer, I decided to share a few things that I've written in the past here with you all.

Please feel free to read, comment and talk about these stories.

Love lost
He looked up one morning and realized he'd lost her. As his world crumbled, amidst the pain and anguish filling his soul, he heard a voice whisper to him.
"Did you honestly think you could have her you fool?", said the Darkness.
He looked around to see where the voice was coming from and saw nothing. "But I love her!" he said.
"Do you think your love is enough?"
"It should have been.", he shouted.
"Love is for fools. Your love will never be enough for her. Never."
He fell to his knees, the pain tearing through his soul.
"I've lost her.", he whispered.
"You never had her. And, to add to your torment, you will see her, smell her and never be with her. You will watch as she is with another and know that you failed. That you were not enough for her.", said the Darkness.
As his heart started to break, he whispered, "But I love her."
"She never loved you as you love her. And she never will......", the Darkness trailed off as it left him there, a broken man.

What she saw
She looked at herself and saw ugliness.
He looked at her and saw perfection.
She looked at herself and saw hair that looked like straw.
He looked at her and saw hair that looked like golden silk.
She looked at herself and saw lips that looked cracked and broken.
He looked at her and saw the softest lips he'd ever kissed.
She looked at herself and saw ugliness.
He looked at her and saw perfection
She looked at herself and saw something no one could ever love.
He looked at her and saw the only thing he could ever love.
She looked at herself and saw only worthlessness.
He looked at her and saw the only thing that was worth living for.

She looked at him, pain running down her cheeks and asked: "How can you look at me?"
He looked at her, pain running down his cheeks and said, "How can I not?"
He looked at her and asked, "Why can you not see me?"
She looked at him and said, "How can you even stand to see me?"
He looked at her and said, "I have, and always will, love you like no other."
She looked at him and said, "How can you love me, I'm not worth loving."
Holding his heart in his hands, he reached for her.
She shook her head and whispered, "I'm not worth loving."

Never hurt you again
He found her laying on the ground, curled in a ball and knelt down, gently enfolding her in his arms.
Unresponsive at first, she began to awaken in his embrace.
Slowly the pain started to run down her cheeks and stain his already stained shirt.
"Why did he do that to me?", she asked into his chest.
He softly stroked her hair as he responded, "Because he was afraid."
"Afraid? Of what?", she whispered.
"Afraid of you."
"Me? Why me?"
"Because he didn't understand you, he didn't know what to do with you."
The tears continued to flow freely down her cheeks. "I'm worthless."
He cupped her chin in his hand and raised her eyes to his as he said, "No. Never feel that way. Because someone else is worthless and strikes out, does not make you worthless."
"Then why did he hurt me?"
"When confronted with a real woman, it frightened him, made him feel small and insignificant."
"How could I make someone feel insignificant? I'm nothing."
"He was nothing. You scared him and he only knew one way to take control and that was to violate you."
She shuddered in his grasp as the words hit home. "What did I do to deserve this?"
"You did nothing at all. It was his failing, his fault, his actions. When he realized your perfection, your beauty, your goodness, he couldn't deal with it and, like most, the only thing he could do was try to destroy that which he did not understand."
"I'm broken.", she whispered.
"No my love, you are not broken. He hurt you, never forget that, but you are far from broken."
She glanced up and saw the love in his eyes as he spoke to her, his words washing away the pain and filth covering her soul.
"Will he hurt me again?", she asked as noticed the red splatters on his shirt.
"No. He'll never hurt you again, I promise."
"Why is there blood on your shirt?"
"I said, he'll never hurt you again. I meant that. He'll never hurt anyone again."
She laid her head back on his chest and felt something she'd dared not feel for a long, long time...... Hope. And perhaps, love.

You are a very good writer! I love these! It made my heart ache while reading, which is actually a good thing, because I felt what you were writing. Don't stop writing!

Thank you. I am a writer, mainly in the SciFi Apocalyptic/Post-Apocalyptic genres, but sometimes the muse calls and I write little snippets like these. And I tend to keep my professional life separate from my personal life.
