lilspacebuns Posted April 8, 2018 Report Posted April 8, 2018 Does anyone else have issues with an adult pacifier? I don't know if it's just the one I have or if they're all the same but mine just doesn't fit my face and makes my front teeth hurt If you have this issue, have you found a way around it? 2
Cowsinthemeadow Posted April 8, 2018 Report Posted April 8, 2018 I hear from a lot of people that using real baby pacis makes their teeth sore, but I haven't heard anything about adult pacis! Definitely following this though, I'm in the market for my first adult pacifier and wanna learn as much as I can!
Guest Spookycupcake Posted April 8, 2018 Report Posted April 8, 2018 Sometimes I have jaw pain but I have had problems with my jaw because I grind my teeth when I'm sleeping
neko Posted April 8, 2018 Report Posted April 8, 2018 Unfortunately if I sleep with a baby or adult paci my teeth hurt when I wake up. I don't really think it's avoidable
lilspacebuns Posted April 8, 2018 Author Report Posted April 8, 2018 Unfortunately if I sleep with a baby or adult paci my teeth hurt when I wake up. I don't really think it's avoidable I never sleep with it but it hurts to have in my mouth unless I just let it sit limp with my mouth open. I think it's just the shape of my chin/teeth that makes it awkward.
Guest Looby-Lou Posted April 8, 2018 Report Posted April 8, 2018 If it feels uncomfortable, maybe try one with a different shaped teat, something that feels better in your mouth. Unfortunately there's no way of knowing until you try them, which means you have to buy them, and the adult ones are more expensive than the ordinary baby pacifiers. Personally, I never sleep with one. But anyway I use a splint (mouthguard/brace) at night because of jaw pain & grinding. I think it's sensible to have a few pacifiers on the go. Sometimes switching around with different shapes and sizes can help avoid jaw ache/tooth pain etc., whilst still allowing us to satisfy that urge to suck! And for me personally, I just really like to play with it around my lips and tongue, it doesn't have to be IN my mouth all the time, so that also takes the strain off the jaw and pressure off the teeth. During the day, I use the pacifiers intermittently, and I don't use the same one all day. So I would suggest you have fun playing around with a selection of baby & adult pacifiers, and maybe also reducing the time you actually keep it fully in your mouth. And to all of us paci lovers, remember that dental care is hugely important, so please don't risk the health of your jaw or your teeth. It's really not worth it.

I looked on amazon and it looks that LittleforBig has a new design that should work better.
Angel24 Posted April 8, 2018 Report Posted April 8, 2018 I use baby ones because I have a small mouth and adult ones are extremely uncomfortable for me to use. I also have to use a kids toothbrush for the same reason. The baby pacis I get are the biggest size ( like 18-36 months I think) and they fit perfectly, no discomfort
Guest littlegirl707 Posted April 8, 2018 Report Posted April 8, 2018 I have used all different ones the baby ones are the best the mams the adult ones hurt and are to big. really I think our thumbs are perfect.

I've used baby paci's before but they were too small, I think they were smaller than what you have though. 1
Guest Babykitkat 23 Posted April 9, 2018 Report Posted April 9, 2018 I would just do a trial and error with the pacis. I have to use a 16 month baby paci, but I have never had jaw pain or my teeth hurting. Though I have a retainer I wear at night. But I would just go through what you think is the best fit for your mouth.
Tonirose Posted April 13, 2018 Report Posted April 13, 2018 The small shield ones from littleforbig have a very soft teat that's completely different from the large shield adult pacifiers. I find them one better for long periods of time.
Princess Kerri Posted April 13, 2018 Report Posted April 13, 2018 I actually do not like the adult ones I ordered and hardly use them. I tend to use the ones I got at target more!! Though I am going to give them a try again this weekend after I bling them out!!

I try not to use mine a lot cause as you said my teeth do start to hurt. ^.^~ I think like everyone has said maybe try the baby ones and see what feels nuce for you!
LittleKitten13 Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 I was wondering how likely it would be to have dental issues from sucking my thumb or a binky? I don't do it 24/7, usually just if I'm really tired and little, or really stressed out. It isn't even every day or night, just occasionally.
Guest Lissy Lu Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 I don't think you'd really have any problems. I think it would only cause problems if you do it a lot and suck aggressively 1
Guest QueenJellybean Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 nope! you absolutely won't unless you are sleeping multiple nights in a row with a child-sized pacifier in, or something similar. even then, the chances of your teeth shifting are very slim, & it would probably be a very minimal amount. this thread might help! https://www.ddlgforum.com/topic/20375-are-teethers-bad-for-adult-teeth/?hl=teeth 1
SweetAndSassy Posted July 18, 2018 Report Posted July 18, 2018 I found some other posts that have website suggestions for adult binkies. The one I got from wish is too small. I will try to share info later! Or, just check out my feed and see where I replied to the posts!
DanSalam Posted November 20, 2024 Report Posted November 20, 2024 I’ve had similar issues with things like retainers or night guards not fitting quite right, and it can be super frustrating. So, I came across your post, and wonder what did you do? And how is it going for you now?
DanSalam Posted November 26, 2024 Report Posted November 26, 2024 (edited) You could try a different size or shape pacifier—it’s crazy how much a small change like that can help with the comfort. If it still bugs you, it might be worth having a dentist check it out. Sometimes these things can mess with your bite or put extra pressure on your teeth. If there’s an alignment issue behind the pain, something like invisible braces might be a good fix. I’ve read about them here: https://jeffreygrossdds.com/services/invisible-orthodontics-lake-county-ohio/ Edited November 29, 2024 by DanSalam
beanbean Posted November 26, 2024 Report Posted November 26, 2024 Glad I found this thread I was talking with someone about this the other day
