PizzaOnARoof Posted June 29, 2018 Report Posted June 29, 2018 Besides the obvious, (I.E, the Earth's surface collapsing under us, concrete buildings turning to dust, cars not working, getting a horrible sunburn) what else would be effected by Earth losing its (debatably) most vital element.
TheDaddyest Posted June 29, 2018 Report Posted June 29, 2018 we'd turn into mars. are you cheating on a project?
PizzaOnARoof Posted June 29, 2018 Author Report Posted June 29, 2018 Idk about that. But itd be pretty cool if we did. Earth's climate/atmosphere is over rated anyway
PapaMax Posted June 29, 2018 Report Posted June 29, 2018 Parties would suck, there would be no atmosphere. 3
Knoxdom Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 Well oxygen is about 21% of the atmosphere, but would the earth only be losing atmospheric, free floating oxygen? Because if you include oxygen that is in compounds things get a lot more interesting, because the oceans would turn into hydrogen and potentially replenish the atmospheric density to a certain degree, taking up that 21% and probably reacting with a whole slew of compounds found in the air and on the surface. As for radical changes from just atmospheric oxygen disappearing the mass extinction of almost all life, terrestrial at first and in the water over a slightly longer period of time, would by far be the most significant. Fires would be impossible, photosynthesis would largely be impossible due to the increase in ionizing radiation, but largely the Earth itself would be quite similar. Now if you had the oxygen in water start separating first then things could get pretty cool. Because if you had all the water on earth split into hydrogen and oxygen a moment before all the oxygen disappeared it would go out with a bang. Literally. It would explode in an enormous fireball the likes of which are unimaginable.

The Aliens that caused it would take over and make Earth their planet and maybe call it something stupid like, BluurfyMcKurrfyBall.
xBabydollx Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 I don't think anybody will be worried about their sunburn when they all suffocate from lack of air XD unless ofc, there is some secret lab where man finally realized how to re-create oxygen, which ofc would be super expensive and/or only available to the elite because we all know man would sell air if they could, just like man sells water lol
Guest Appacheian Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 The question is a few billions years too early lol.
