Cutieebbabyy Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 Hi! I am going to be on the hunt for a new job this month. What jobs do you have as a little that you enjoy? It doesn’t have to make lots of money, just something you don’t mind going to everyday. I am very nervous as it will only be my 2nd job ever, so I wanted some suggestions! 1
Guest Dulci Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 (edited) I think you need to put your adult head on for any job. I work a government job. It can be busy and I have to be professional at all times. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it though! However. The job I had the most fun in was Lush Cosmetics. Loads of bath bombs. Glitter. And making people happy. Edited June 20, 2018 by Dulci 1
Guest SUeB Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 Yep, work is for adults, and adult headspaces. Obviously there are some jobs where you can feel that your lg side fits, but those are pretty few. my job is a passion. Personal trainer and fitness class instructor at the gym. Love it. 1
LittleKitten13 Posted June 21, 2018 Report Posted June 21, 2018 I really like working with kids. Yes I have to be the "big kid" but I can sometimes still be a kid with them. 1
Bluebells Posted June 21, 2018 Report Posted June 21, 2018 I've had two jobs before, one working in an office in a community centre and one working in an office for a private company. The job working in the community centre paid less, but I was helping people every day, which was far far more rewarding. It built my confidence too, seeing that I could help make a difference to someone's life. I do agree that work is for adult headspace, but that doesn't mean it can't be rewarding. If you can't decide on what job to look for, my advice would be to do a general search on a job-search website (put in your location but leave the job field blank) and see what's available in your local area, something might catch your eye. 1
Lil' Miss Dolly Posted June 22, 2018 Report Posted June 22, 2018 I work in Palliative Care.. Its definitely not for everyone but I'm free to be cheerful and bubbly with the families. It seems to help! If you have the head for it, Childrens Mental Health is a rewarding career where holding some kind of childlike whimsy could be a benefit depending on what route you take. 1
princess gremlin Posted June 22, 2018 Report Posted June 22, 2018 I love working in childcare because it allows me to mix my knowledge of ~little~ interests with my professional side! It's not for everyone, but it's always what I've known I wanted to do anyway. I certainly have to keep an adult head 90% of the time (takes a lot of self control tbh) and pay attention to standards and safety and professionalism, but there are days when I get to sit down with my kiddos and chat about their favorite stuff like Descendants, Moana, and Minecraft, and I think my love of their interests builds a lot of respect into our relationships that I sometimes don't see with other teachers.
