little_boy_serge Posted June 19, 2018 Report Posted June 19, 2018 hi! my name is Serge and this is my first post on this forum! first of all, congratulations!!! this is a fantastic opportunity! guess your grades are fantastic, you deserve it! i'm french (as you may notice from my prénom) but i've travelled around and i lived for 3 years when i was around 14-15 in Gaithersburg, which is kinda close to Washington. In my opinion Washington is a wonderful city, it can offer great possibilities and a lot of activities to do. moreover, i've also heard a lot about the university, and i think is a really good one. I've also been in England and as far as i know, Edinburgh is a lovely city, kinda rainy. about universities i don't really know. but i guess if you're european you wanna go far away right? hope to be usefull bisous serge
kittyboo Posted June 19, 2018 Report Posted June 19, 2018 I've never been to any of those places so not able to help but just wanted to say a massive congratulations! What a fantastic achievement
little_rainbow678 Posted June 19, 2018 Author Report Posted June 19, 2018 hi serge! welcome to the forum! and thank you for your kind words, i guess commitment in study gives its reward eheh thank you for your advice, I've already been in cambridge and i know universities are really good there, but i've heard that Edinburgh is not the best one for what i wanna do. Washington was actually my first choice, both because I think this is the best one for me togheter with Canberra and because there was someone there i actually wanted to meet, but i never had the chance to tell . unluckly things didn't went really well, so i think choosing that city would make me feel kinda....nostalgic ahahahah of course i will try to choose what is best for my career but heart means something too. apart of that, your information was really useful, so thank youu again! if you need friends, je suis ici! bisous rainbow <3

Guest littlesparklefairy Posted June 19, 2018 Report Posted June 19, 2018 Hi Hi! I live in America and I've fortunately been to all of the place that you listed under the America list. In my opinion, you would love any of those places. The Fun Side of these Places: Washington D.C is literally so beautiful and if you're someone who would rather have someone show you around, opposed to looking around on your own there are many tours for many different things. New York is nice, you just have to get used to the people for sure. If you can get around that you're going to have a lot of different things to see and do. The main things I went for was the statue of liberty and a Central Park because I wanted to see if the Madagascar team was there hehe. Seattleeeeee! I recommend everyone going to Seattle because not only is it my all time favorite place to visit but mostly because there is a variety of different things you can do for every age. If you are someone who likes to shop youre going to have more places they you can go to. The places to eat are out of this world and I do recommend trying something new every time. The main tourist sites are definitely a must see. Go see the space needle, go across the floating bridge, Seattle aquarium for sure. Now to the Academic side: I know nothing about the colleges in Ny or D.C, but I do however know that University of Washington is based in Seattle. All of my family when and still continues to go there. It is a great school with very nice track record. It was the school I was going to go to before I changed my major. I definitely recommend. If not that one there are many colleges that are Seattle based to pick and research on. As for transportation, that's not something that you should have to worry too much about. There are taxis, Ubers (like taxis), bus routes, train routes, those electronic things that zip through the city that I can't remember the name of, you'd notice them. So you should have loads of transportation. Sorry if it was too long, but I hope it helps some. Congratulations and I hope you have a spectacular time wherever you choose.
little_boy_serge Posted June 19, 2018 Report Posted June 19, 2018 well, i don't want to talk about your life, because i don't know you, but if i may say, you shouldn't let your heart interfere in your choice. this is your life, your career and your future, so do not let anyone ruin it !!! you wanna go to washington? go! it's full of people, do not let a girl/boy rain on your parade! you don't wanna go? that's fine, choose another option, but do not do it JUST because you don't want to go to washington! wings are made to fly babe, fly as high as you can!!! (excuse my "passion" but i know what does it mean not follow your dreams just because you're afraid of someone, if fate didn't want it, it's because you deserve better!) p.s. how much do you have to decide?

" you know? Edited June 19, 2018 by little_rainbow678
little_boy_serge Posted June 19, 2018 Report Posted June 19, 2018 well, j'suis desolé if i hurted you making you think about him, but you know, sometimes is better to be a little "selfish" and enjoying life a little more. "what if you told him about it?" you'll never know darling, that's the point!!! he'll never know as well!!! that's too late, both for you and expecially for him, because he lost a chance, you did not! whatever your destination will be, you'll live 6 fantastic months of your life and if he discovers, maybe he'll have his regrets, but while he lost his train, you will take your plane!!! p.s. wow! a week is such a little time!!! now i'm super curious about your choice, i also started following your topic!

DadaMike Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 New York it up! It legit is only 3.00usd to go anywhere in NYC using the subway. There's also uber which is your best bet since taxis tend to Take advantage of foreigners. Not all, but most. There are a million things to go see and even more things to do. I personally love art galleries and shows and such festivities. But it's also one of the best places in the world for food. As for the people, I see no difference in people anywhere I go. I feel everybody is their own character lol a state doesn't define everybody who lives in it like the one stated above. I've never had any issues since I moved here a year ago and there's always something to this day I still have not done or seen. As far as universities go. I'm pretty sure nyc has some of the best schools for translation since there's so much diversity in the city. On another note... Congrats! What ever you decide I'm sure it will be an awesome opportunity and time. And if you need a friend don't ever hesitate if you end up in the city to hit me up if you need anything at all.
DadaMike Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 I just realized just how late I am on responding to this lol whoooopsies. Where ever you landed. I hope you're enjoying it
