Akuchiakuba Posted June 14, 2018 Author Report Posted June 14, 2018 You're welcome. Just one more thing. People have given some very good suggestions here. Just don't try do everything at once, as that in itself will probably stress you out, lol. Write a list, choose two things to try. See which work. Use a gradual process of elimination. Over time, try one or two new things from the list. Then chose your favourites, or the ones that really seem to help, and use at least one of those things in times of stress and anxiety. Right. I wouldn't want to do that. I'll be sure to be careful when I'm figuring out what works. I'm sure I'll have plenty of chances to try new things, though. Life tends to be pretty hectic for me.
Akuchiakuba Posted June 14, 2018 Author Report Posted June 14, 2018 I personally love flow arts for stress relief. For me it feels like my mind is free because I'm focusing only on what looks and feels good and nothing more than that. I currently am loving pole dance, fire fans, and my LED hula hoop, but there are many things out there. I started off with a cheap pair of LED poi from eBay that were like $5. I would shut the curtains and turn off the lights and spin them in the dark. I already knew how to use poi because I'm from NZ and I learned in primary school, but there's plenty of tutorials online if you want to give it a go. I just loved seeing the soft glow of the pretty colours spin around. Focusing on doing that and making them go where I wanted them to go was relaxing for me. And learning a new skill can be pretty empowering too. I've never heard of this before. 0o0 It sounds really pretty, so I definitely want to check it out at least. Thank you so much for posting!
Akuchiakuba Posted June 14, 2018 Author Report Posted June 14, 2018 A big stress reliever is putting on a nice record and dancing to it in a cute outfit. Colouring usually helps as well. Or trying cool new stuff with my hair, braids, up dos and the likes. Adult me likes to get as far away from people as possible, lying on the floor and listening to calming music. If this doesn't work I try short yoga or meditation sequences. Seems like a lot of people use music and meditation! I really ought to give it a try. I'm not sure I would enjoy dancing too much, only from fear of being caught, but I'll try that out as well. ^^ Thanks so much for your post!
kittyboo Posted June 14, 2018 Report Posted June 14, 2018 As others have said, little space is my stress relief so I: - Colour - Squishies - Get into bed with a nappy on and my dummy and all my teddies in a cocoon - Listen to an audiobook (children's or adult's story)
Akuchiakuba Posted June 14, 2018 Author Report Posted June 14, 2018 As others have said, little space is my stress relief so I: - Colour - Squishies - Get into bed with a nappy on and my dummy and all my teddies in a cocoon - Listen to an audiobook (children's or adult's story) I have a couple of squishies, so I'll try to use them more often. ^^ I would do the cocoon thing, but I actually don't have a bed in most places! I sleep on the chair or couch in the living room, so a lot of times I can't get away from whatever is stressing me out. Still, I really appreciate you posting and sharing your thoughts. Thanks so much!
