I received degree's in mathematics and physics after which I spent twenty-four years as a professional poker player. During that time I opened a poker school in Las Vegas, wrote a monthly column for three different industry magazines, sold my instructional dvd's via infomercial because "You too deserve to be a winning poker player!", and eventually wrote a book on the game.  I enjoyed writing the book so much that I decided to try my hand at another genre and just finished my first novel - it is at the publishers now.  Currently I am not working due to my health (a nasty auto-immune disease) but am going back to school in January for a social worker degree to become a counselor.

 

There have been many, many jobs thrown in there here and there.  I am a combat vet, having served with Force Recon.  I took a month off of poker to work the phones as a psychic for Miss Cleo, if anyone is old enough to remember her.  In poker you look for 'tells' and more often then not, they are visual clues.  I went to work for Cleo to take that sense away and only rely on audio tells.  It did end up improving my game.  What else?  Lessee...restaurant work, karate instructor, educator, etc. etc.

I’m a trans male little and degreed plant biologist (BSc Honours Biochemistry, MSc Biology). Currently doing my PhD (a continuation of my Masters work) and when I’m not holed up in the research lab, I’m a senior teaching assistant for a biochemistry lab course and a piano teacher to young’ins for some extra cash.

 

I feel at home in a research lab and I adore teaching - I prefer teaching the “big children” more than the little children, though. If I could get a post-doc position and eventually wind up with a faculty position at some academic institution somewhere, that would be The Dream. Fingers crossed.

My profession of choice is a librarian! For a while I was volunteering at a nearby one, but I've since then quit, and will try again at a later date, mostly because I plan to move (preferably closer to daddy, but we'll see), and I figured starting a job where I'm currently at would be pointless if I'm planning on moving
