One of my psychology essays was to define depression, so *ahem* here's my take on it.

Let me get out my notes, excuse me.

Ah, here we go. Just gotta get out my quill and.....okay, we are set to write.

Depression. It's like a tide that sweeps you off shore away from safety.

It makes the biggest enemy to you yourself.

As you desperately fight against its power, it drags you further and further away.

What you need to learn is how to accept your situation, calm down, and stop fighting against it.

Eventually, you'll slowly come to realize that after drifting along for a while you get deposited back to shore.

No, no. That's not right.

That's so cheesy and stupid, honestly why'd I come up with this crap.

Let's try a new take on it.

Depression. It's like lifting a veil to show you the true world around you.

You now see the world for what it really is.

Happiness just masks the sad reality of the world.

The world is a sinful, ugly place and we only try to preoccupy ourselves to escape its truth.

We now see that we are truly useless, helpless, hopeless and was being deceived when we were happy.

That, of course, is also deception. Our deception of ourselves that we now know the truth,

but really it is far from it.

Ugh! That's still not right.

Why can't I capture its essence in words. I'm a writer for fuck's sake.

Let's try this again.

Depression. It's a tsunami of anxiety coming at you head on like you are about to trip and hit the ground,

but the moment right before you hit is stuck in a loop. That anxiety feeling stuck on repeat for the longest time.

Worry that overtakes the logical, wise parts of our mind leaving just our emotional essence. The self-concious

human part of our brain. For you see, sadness is one of the most useless emotions that a human can feel

it's counter-intuitive by making our functionality diminished, hinders our ability to process current situations, and

even goes against the life's principle of self-preservation with concepts such as suicide. How intricate the human brain

is to go against even the principles of life itself.

Ugly! It's all a pointless endeavor!

I'm hitting a major case of writer's block and all I can do is spout out shit.

Maybe it's not me that is the problem...

Maybe...

Just Maybe...

Depression. It's complicated.

Depression is shit. The end.

But we can battle it. We can fight and we can prevail.

Although, when we’re deep into it, it’s so hard. So hard to accept that we have the power to put up a fight and not let it consume us. So hard to even muster up the willpower to fight, even when we do know we must.

It’s a perpetual struggle against ourselves. But we have to remember that the depressed person isn’t our “true” self. It can take so much effort to dig up our “true” self. But it’s worth it.

Everyone struggling with depression and other forms of mental illness, keep up the fight. You got this.

Oh, and:

*hugs xInfinity*

:p
