Guest curiousmiddle Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 What is a 'Big'? I've seen many different ways this word has been used, such as: A big is an older version of a middle. A big is a little/middle who isn't currently regressed ("When I'm big"). A big is another word for caregiver (Littles vs Bigs). I haven't seen an actual definition of 'big' anywhere, though. I don't see the term used very often, but when I do, it causes questions to arise. What exactly is a big? Is it even a thing? If so, why isn't it used more often? Why can't I get a clear answer on what it is? The term isn't included in the Types of Littles post, so if it is #1, it can't be that well known. So, questions: Have you ever heard of the term 'big'? If so, how would you define it?
Guest MommyMudkip Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 From what I've seen it means when a little/middle is in their biologically aged state of mind. I have also seen it used to refer to a CG. I think it's interchangeable!
Guest TheLittlestMouse Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 99.9% of the time it is when a little refers themself as adult (that is how i use it) Like my big age is 27 for example And my little age is 4-7 I have heard of people calling their caregiver big but that term is used very rarely! At least from what i have seen.
Angel24 Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 I also mostly use it when referring to "big me" when I'm not in little space, but I have seen it used when referring to a caregiver too.
Guest RoyG Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 The answer to this is pretty similar to every other term used within the BDSM community, in that the same word is used to mean a nearly infinite number of things when you get down to details. I've used/seen the term "big" in all three contexts you mentioned, and so I would not attach a specific definition to it. Let people use the words they feel are appropriate, and understand what they're saying from context. "I had to be big the whole day today" "My Big took me out to dinner!" "I think I'm more of a big rather than a middle" You probably know exactly what I'm saying in all three cases, despite using the same word.
Guest BabyPeach Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Big me is when I'm an adult. Little me is when I'm little. I have seen posts on Insta refer to the post being for littles and bigs........meaning littles and adults (who aren't ever little). Basically, a big is a grown-up.

I use the term big to refer to my bio-aged self, when Im not feeling little.
Guest Looby-Lou Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Mostly when I've seen the term "big" it's used (like some others have said above) to refer to the biological age of a Little/Middle. Why isn't it used more often? Maybe people just don't need it often. Personally I don't like referring to myself as "big" in any way, it has negative associations for me. So when referring to my biological age or to myself when I'm not feeling Little, I would use the words "real age" or "my adult self".
