Hopeisreal Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 I’m homeless and living in a women’s shelter. This is my first time homeless. I actually like the shelter I stay at. And this has actually helped me to clear my head and get my life together in a spiritual way. Has anyone else been homeless or currently homeless? Not many people in my life right now know about me living in a homeless shelter.
Hopeisreal Posted April 11, 2018 Author Report Posted April 11, 2018 As far as help goes I’m honestly just waiting to hear back about disability and that entire process. But in the meantime I have shelter and food. The bills/debt has to wait until I get some type of income.
Guest DarkLIttlePrince Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 Helllo. I have been in that situation a long long time ago. I was able to struggle my way out of it and I know how lucky I was and how hard it was. pride prevented me from seeking help at the time... The only thing I can say is never give up or lower you head. Sometimes it trully is a way to get our life back together, To plan and spiritually to find ourselfs. Life sometimes throws these weird curve balls at us.... just deal with one thing at a time (yes I know its easier said than done). Feel free to message me if you want to vent / talk / or something. 3
Guest infinitely empty Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 yes i have been homeless more than once i totally know how it feels and stuff here if you need to talk
Hopeisreal Posted April 11, 2018 Author Report Posted April 11, 2018 Thank you all. It’s good just to talk about it.
Sparklefrosting Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 (edited) I haven't been but I've had friends who were. I'm glad you found a shelter. I hope you won't have to stay there long. *hugs* Edited April 11, 2018 by Sparklefrosting
Hopeisreal Posted April 11, 2018 Author Report Posted April 11, 2018 Thank you. I’m staying on the emergency shelter side and then trying to get into one of their programs that helps us get back on our feet. It’s about six months.
Guest Pumpkin_8 Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 me and my mother have been homeless countless of times, we have never been to a shelter. We slept in our car with all our stuff. Minus the heavy duty stuff like mattresses and dressers. My mom just worked hard on saving money, we had to cut out a lot of things to keep money, and we searched high and low for apartments, even if it had to be a one bedroom. But I do hope you're okay, and don't stress much about it, being homeless isn't always a bad thing or anything to be ashamed of.
Hopeisreal Posted April 11, 2018 Author Report Posted April 11, 2018 Honestly I was so scared and worried about it but now that I’m going through it I’m okay. And I find that I have joy even in the midst of this, it’s hard to explain but I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long while. Yes, I worry about bills and debt but I know that I’m going to be okay.
Guest BabyPeach Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 I never have, but I just want to say that I'm glad you have a safe place to stay. The streets aren't a place for anyone, but especially a female. Hang in there and take it day by day. You sound like you have a plan and that's definitely a good thing.
Hopeisreal Posted April 12, 2018 Author Report Posted April 12, 2018 Thank you. I’m so glad to have a roof over my head even if it is a shelter. And I just heard I’ll be getting in the program as soon as they get a room ready for me.
Hopeisreal Posted April 15, 2018 Author Report Posted April 15, 2018 One question I do have is that because I’m homeless and have no income what do I do as far as credit card debt. Because I truly don’t have any money to pay off my debts.
Tinka Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 hello, maybe you have to ask someone about the laws of your country as regards credit card debt. I think its a kind of form that you fill, a statement that you are homeless and thus unable to pay for your debt now. May you get back on your feet, i am very sorry you had to go through this. i have been a few times in my life homeless but not for long. Last year i got pneumonia from this , wasn`t fun at all. Do you have any relatives at all? someone in general? if yes, is there any chance you can move to their house for a while until you will find work and get back on your feet? Please write about any news .
Hopeisreal Posted April 25, 2018 Author Report Posted April 25, 2018 I got in a program here at the shelter I’m staying in. It’s a six month program. After I’m done with it I’m going to stay with my sister. I’m still waiting to hear back from disability.

Guest ScorpioBeastWolf Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 Where your heart is, where you know love and feel love, where you can breathe and be grateful. We can at that place be at home. Home is where are soul, mind, body and heart can talk to each other. So, don't see that you are homeless because it is a blessing in disguise as you step into spirituality.
Hopeisreal Posted April 25, 2018 Author Report Posted April 25, 2018 Fainting spells, migraines, depression, anxiety. And it is such a blessing being here.
Tinka Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 Fainting spells, migraines, depression, anxiety. And it is such a blessing being here. do they name these symptoms a disability in your country?
Guest grumpystrawberry Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 I've been homeless for about three months straight before. I lived out of hotels and my van. I learned to be grateful for a lot of things, like having my own private space and not having to worry if I'm going to have something to eat that day. That was about 7 or 8 years ago. It's definitely not a moment in my life that I will easily forget any time soon. I hope you find a place to live soon!
Hopeisreal Posted April 25, 2018 Author Report Posted April 25, 2018 do they name these symptoms a disability in your country? Yeah all together it could be the basis for disability.
