Discord? Help!

So I followed the link to Discord, and I think I did the right verify thing, but honestly, I have no experience at all with that kind of platform. Is there anywhere I can find out more about Discord? What is its functionality? What can I do there? How do I navigate it? Is there anything like a tutorial, or site that explains what discord servers are for, or what they do?

 

I feel like a total newb to this, because, well, I am.
