Does anyone know where I can buy or have custom made a Disney princess nightgown in an adult size? The kind with frilly sleeves and ruffled bottom? Thank you!!!!

Both eBay and Easy have vendors selling adult disney dresses.

I would imaging that an easier option would be to go to a local seamstress or custom dress shop and have them make it for you.  I am sure your local craigslist can provide you at least a few options to explore for a local seamstress.

Disney itself sells Princess wedding gowns and they are a small fortune.

I would imagine the best bet would be to go to a place that makes prom dresses.

Disney is incredibly protective of it's brand.

Finding someone openly advertising custom Disney stuff would be difficult.

Not impossible but you would have to do some serious digging.

If you search Etsy and find someone who makes clothing, it would be pretty easy to message them and ask for something custom.

Also searching instagram for tags related to ddlg can bring up stores that also do custom content.

Maybe you could buy a nightdress you like in the largest child size, some similar material from a  fabric shop, and get a seam-mistress to combine them into an adult sized night dress? She could cut out the logo and incorporate it into the adult sized garment surely, and add frilly sleeves and hem.

Good luck, they are super cute :)

Great suggestions!!! Thank you guys so much! I’m guessing I will have to get something f custom made, I do love the suggestion for getting it in a small size and bringing it to a seamstress :)

Finding something in that stye in adult sizing will be hard enough as it is because most adult nightgowns are the shape of oversized t-shirts, but finding disney will be even harder.

You can buy Disney fabrics from a lot of fabric stores (well, at least the ones in my area have a tonne of it because I use it to make things for my cousins). Find a reasonably priced local seamstress and have them make it up.

As for cutting the logo and putting it on another garment.... then you have some randomly placed patch right on the front and I don't imagine that looking any good. And adding fabric to a pre existing small dress could so easily go wrong as you'd have random seams, and seams in wrong places.

As someone who sews.... adding pieces to the side seams would just look weird with two extra panels, or just replacing the whole back panel would leave the side seams too far forward. Plus you'd have to adjust for the sleeves and everything else and it would be a fair amount of work just to expand a dress.

Another point to consider... buying a disney dress, extra fabric, and paying for a seamstress to adjust that much of it will be expensive. And if you're paying that much for one piece it better be done right and look good. Better to just start from scratch and have something custom done that looks and fits right.

Thank you for that! I don’t know the first thing about sewing, and I’ve never ordered anything custom before. I know this is exactly what I want. I have wanted a dress/ nightgown like this for a long time. With that in mind I could bring it to a seamstress. Do you think they would be able to re-create something like that in my size without a pattern? Edited by Lildefect06

Buying something and having it altered would most likely be cheaper by the way.

Anytime you get something custom it's gonna be expensive but if you can find something from Disney that you can take to a seamstress, you wouldn't be infringing on copyright and as long as you go to a good person, they should be able to create whatever you want.

Honestly, if you have a shop nearby you could call them and ask for suggestions. I'm sure they would be happy to help point you in a better direction.

Well I create my own patterns, but not everyone does. You'd have to talk to the seamstress, and they should be able to either make or get one.

Buying something and having it altered may be cheaper, but it's not going to look very good. Again, I sew (and from some suggestions I'm assuming you don't) and I can already see several problems that will come up and make it look bad. Plus buying a disney nightgown, extra fabric, and paying someone to take apart and remake something is likely going to cost the same, or more all up as buying fabric and making it. If this is something you really want then you might as well spend the money getting something that looks great. :) Having the extra panels or having seams out of place not only looks terrible but will be uncomfortable to wear.

And buying Disney fabric is not infringing on copyright, neither is buying fake disney products. The company making the item is, but not the person buying. So don't worry about that :)

Another option, although it won't have the cute ruffles and that details to buy a Disney tank top or t-shirt in a few sizes to big so that it's long enough for a nightgown. This obviously depends on your size and height but may be the cheapest, easiest, and quickest option if you can find something you like.

I found this on a Disney store site, but other stores often stock Disney products too so you might be able to find a design you like more local to you. https://www.shopdisney.com/cinderella-tank-tee-for-women-1433813

When I find someone and get it made I will come back and post a picture for you guys

It sounds like this is a special dream of yours, so it's wonderful that you're taking steps to make it a reality.

I'm sure you'll find the way to do it, so that you're happy with the end result.

And doing all the research, discussing ideas etc. can all be part of the fun of it!

And DEFINITELY show us a picture when you get it finished  :)

Thank you guys so much for the feedback! I’m so glad I posted and asked. Maybe I’m the only one, but I feel like there is this one special nightgown that will make me really feel cute and little. I don’t mind paying more to have it done right. I have to do some searching to see if I can find someone local to make it !

When I find someone and get it made I will come back and post a picture for you guys

i know exactly what you're talking about, and it's not just you!

i think arc is right, but i also think you don't have to go completely custom. take something like this for example, and have someone carefully remove the sleeves. you could get a matching fabric that would ruffle well, like a satin or something, and get them to make new ruffly sleeves and a ruffled hem.

it's hard to find exactly what you're looking for! i've been on the hunt for a pastel plus-size suspender skirt for a few years, and not a thing like that exists in my size  :p
