**TW**Are there any little or Daddies here with mental illnesses?

So I was recently diagnosed with bipolar l and I have gone through a lot of reactions lol. But I am adapting to it; at first it was relieving to hear "oh nothing wrong with me, I'm just a little different," and it felt like a lot of bad things were happening all at once. But slowly I started to learn to live or still learning. Some of the things I've done so far is I've made a lot of agendas lol. Or ways for me to keep up with my to-do's, because before I would forget EVERYTHING, I would get so much anxiety I'd have to go in my little space and I wouldn't want(or sometimes wouldn't) come out. So I write in my agenda, on my huge calendar, and my white board so I can't miss anything, remind myself to take my meds or set alarms. Another thing I have done is going to more social outings and meet more people, I am in the middle of joining a sorority, so hopefully that works out and I get accepted! And I've tried to be more involved with class work or just being more positive, so far its working and hopefully I can keep it up! So I was wondering if there are other littles or Daddies out there who has mental issues or mental illnesses? Edited by Sachita

Hello Ndea, I've had anxiety and depression since I was a boy. I also have a personality disorder. What I found helped me was learning about the many causes of anxiety and depression and a lot about natural remedies for them as well as lifestyle choices that would help control my mood. I've found that what works best for me is to have a valve to reduce stress, for me it's physical activity and fresh air. Just walking around when I feel really bad or exercise when I feel good or gym when I feel very good. Hot and cold showers also do wonders for stress reduction. Zen yoga and meditation helps as well. Choice of foods also helps me control my moods. Low gi foods, lots of carbs, I avoid junk food, if I eat junk food I don't eat a lot at once, I generally don't eat a lot at once because my stomach is usually tense because of anxiety and a lot of food makes it go berserk..Routine helps me a lot. Waking up at certain times, not napping when I'm tired, staying active during the day to keep my energy levels stable and then doing some stress release before bed and going to bed and resting for 9+ hours and hopefully trying to sleep for at least 8.

Yeah, anyway that's how I deal with myself. Healthy routine, good diet and stress release.

Positive mindset also helps a bit if that works.

By the way I'm not against meds, if meds are the best option then that's what it is. I personally don't take meds and don't like them as I believe it's better to prevent the cause of my illness than to treat the symptoms.

Have a nice day, Prat.

Hi Ndea, I have depression and anxiety. To be honest its not always a smooth road, sometimes there are bumps so I do have a schedule. I have certain things that I always do like, trying and eating healthy and going for walks. I cant really run I have asthma too. I also try and read a lot. doing stuff that makes you happy and doesn't affect your health anyway. I love going to the beach for walks its calm and peace . I also avoid extremely places. plus am still seeing my psychiatrist. I keep a journal too. I write everyday without failure.

I guess that's just about it.

You're definitely not alone. I have boderline personality disorder (which is like bipolar's ugly cousin), major depressive disorder, and severe social anxiety. I even created a support thread here on the site, so I could connect with other littles and CGs who are mentally ill.

Hi! I have grown up with depression from a young age and also developed anxiety over the years as well

I feel you honey, bipolar is quite the monster. I myself, have Bipolar Disorder, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and GAD (generalized anxiety disorder of a crazy level). I've found the right therapist and psychiatrist do wonders.

Getting diagnosed is half the battle, Now you just have to make and find yourself a reliable support system.

If you ever would like to talk (it helps to know people with similar conditions, I've found it reminds me that I'm not the only person who has it) then feel free to message me!

You are so right, being Bipolar is quite a life-changing experience! Honestly, it was hereditary for me (which apparently Bipolar disorder is hereditary); my grandmother on my father side, grandfather on my mother side, both parents, and a few aunts are all or just bipolar, schizophrenia, or dementia. So it's kind of like a family thing lol. But I was also diagnosed with PTSD back in high school due to a rape that happened in a relationship I had. As well as being diagnosed with major depressive disorder when I was thirteen. For me, those two weren't as bad because I felt like I had a better chance of overcoming it but being bipolar; well that's a life-long thing, there is no changing that no matter what we try to do. All we can do, is learn to live with it and also it's not such a terrible thing to be bipolar I am learning, in my opinion I thinks us "different" people are probably a little more san then the "normal" people lol. But I hear you, being diagnosed is only one part, the journey is another and thankfully I have a good support system. I will, if you ever need to talk you can also message me! Thanks for the response!

Hey!

I have Social Anxiety and have been dealing with depression for 4 years almost 5, used to be on ad but stopped taking them because I hated it.

It can definitely be hard but little space helps me cope with it and "forget about everything"

If you ever need to talk you can message me :)

Hey Bresie, thanks for the comment! Yeah I had Major Depressive Disorder and PTSD. I have an anxiety too. But bipolar disorder is my biggest challenge so far beside college lol. I have asthma too but I try to do a little of cardio when I work out and I never sprint; which is funny because I was a 4-year wrestler in high school and I did track (I was a sprinter ironically) but I do not like to run fast unless its a must. I do read a lot (college student here) and I also have a journal, I don't write in it everyday but every other day. I have a hard time remembering stuff so I have to make a lot of effort to incurred my day to day activities. But overall, I am proud at your motivation to stay on top of your stuff! If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to message!

Hey Prat! Thanks for the comment firsthand! Secondly, I really admire the efforts you've made to better cope with your illness and other issues! It seems like you really try to stay on top of things and manage your life along with all the other things mentally. Trust me, I understand how hard that is to do; I am a college student on the brink of graduating with my Bachelor's early and then(hopefully) go to graduate school. It's hard to maintain your life with added issues, but it defiantly not impossible. Hopefully, you use your life skills and experience to encourage other people suffering with mental or physical issues and motivate them to seek out coping skills and activities that will help then better live there lives with their issues. If you every need someone to talk to, thee ton's of littles and daddies on here as well as myself, feel free to message!

Hey stuffies-princess! By the way, I love stuffies too ( I have a 7 foot bear in my living room  :D )! Secondly, thanks for your comment and willingness to share with us! Thirdly, social anxiety defiantly sucks, sometimes I get anxiety meeting a new person and trying to decide in my head whether or not to use "hey"  or "hello," super stressful! I was depressed from age 7-14 and diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder when I was 12! Then PTSD due to an assault when I was 16 and now BP at 20! Some drugs don't work for certain people which I totally understand! After my MDD diagnosed, I was prescribed zoloft and it was the absolute worse! But now the medication I am on for my BP is really working for me so  :D , I think its all about finding your niche and what works best for you. I think finding DDLG has also really helped with all the overwhelming feelings, when I need to shut down and stop adulting for a second or dealing with my many varying moods, going into little space helps me focus on the things I like and being happy. So I understand that! And likewise, if you ever need to talk, feel free to message me!
