Guest Charlie Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) I was wondering if anyone else had a glitter bottle. I made one in a small bottle yesterday (by the way the jar is a better idea. Trying to put the glitter glue past the bottleneck is very likely to change your kitchen into a glitter disaster) (Post yours?) Edited March 25, 2018 by Charlie 3
BabyGirlDumb Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 AHHH OMG YOU WERE RIGHT! THIS IS SO CUTE AND PERFECT! You should post the recipe you used so others can make it too! :3
tamsinkitten Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Here is mine: I think I put too much glitter...but I still like it ^^ The color changes from blue to purple, depending on the light and the way the glitter moves. I did not make it alone, my Daddy actually helped me a lot ^^ It was a fun activity to do together
Guest Charlie Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Thank you! <3 I'm not sure if you can call that a recipe, it was really messy. Basically I alternated between putting the glitter glue (I used sky blue, blue, pink , fuschia, purple, gold and silver. I have literally no idea of how much I used) and the hot water. As the glue sometimes stayed stuck in the bottleneck I used the end of a paintbrush to push it in. I colored the water with a bit of liquid watercolor and I put the bottle in a hot water bath to liquefy the rest of the glue (for some reason it didn't work with the blue one so now there's a weird "glue pebble" inside...). Then I added a little bit of blue sparkles. Tamsin I love what you did *__* It's super cute!
Guest Sae Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 I do! :3 Mine is blue I wanna make a second one that is purple and I want it to have a pretty space theme. But yeah the picture above is mine. I think I also have the recipe in my coping skills post. but I can post it here too. What do they do? Glitter jars is most commonly referred to as a calming jar or a mind jar. It's a very simply style of snow globe. Glitter jars are fantastic for calming someone when they’re stressed out. You simple shake the jar back and forth, and the glitter is really soothing. Its calming for ED, Anxiety, Depression, Self harm and much more! My understanding is, you want to make them as pretty as possible for yourself. Materials you'll need Mason Jar or baby food jar, or a clear bottle. Craft glitter Glitter Glue Hot Water Food coloring Ribbion (Optional) ECT! Procedure Take the jar and fill it almost all the way full with hot water. You can do this by boiling the water, OR microwaving water. Please remembre if you are going to boil some of your water will evaporate. You just need hot water to break down the glitter glue. Add the water to the mason jar. Add desired amount and color of glitter to the mason jar. Add a bit of food coloring (your choice of color) and mix with a chopstick or something. Make sure the water doesn't look too dark! Add your glitter glue. The glitter glue just gives the jar an effect that makes it look like there’s glitter all over the jar. The water should feel thicker than normal with the glue in it, but not too much. Too much glue will make the glitter move around too slow. You will want to stir it at this point with something(Chopstick, BBQ stick, A folk.) Add some glitter, but not EVERYTHING. Worst case scenario, you add in more glitter later on. Close the lid of the jar, and seal it tight! If yo uhave a Mason Jar, you need to set the lid in some water. Shake it up like you would shake a snow globe for about 15 seconds. Wait five minutes for the glitter and foam to settle and then you’re all done! 1
Guest Foffy Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Sae, mine are not nearly as pretty as yours is! But I made two today as practice, one purple and one blue. I didn't use food coloring, so maybe that's part of the problem? Guest Foffy Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Those are SO cool! Where do you find bottles like that?
Guest Charlie Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 I found mine in a local bead shop. But I'm pretty sure you can find the same on Etsy.
Guest Foffy Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Etsy is a great idea. I'd really like to make something a little less plain than a mason jar -- I'll have to look around. Thanks
Guest Pouty Kitten Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 Oooo so pretty. Daddy and I made some but I'll have to post a picture later
Guest Rainbow Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 found this list of other types of these bottles. i'm interested in the shaving cream 'swirling colors' bottle! i will be making one soon... http://www.greenwichcsd.org/k6/meyer/pdfs/discovery_bottles.pdf 1
