Having nightmares

I've never been one to have nightmares, but recently I've been having them every night, and they usually involve my daddy leaving me, or being really mean and unreasonable with me (which he isn't at all !! he's the nicest most in love person I've ever met). I think I just love him so so much I'm really scared of screwing this up :(

And on top of all of this we don't live together so whenever I have nightmares I have to deal with them all by myself, which is super hard for little me. So I was wondering if anyone has tips on dealing with nightmares on my own, or maybe how to stop them, because they upset me so much :( :(

Have you been drinking or taking any sort of drug? If so you might want to revaluate what you consume.

Keep a dream journal. Sometimes what we dream is literal and sometimes not. With the journal note what happens the day before. Keep track of your life and note possible triggers.

And talk with your Daddy :). Maybe allmyou really need is a long talk with him. Or maybe set up a schedule for dates (not romantic I know, but could help)

Hope this helps.

Sorry to hear you are having nightmares, they are terrible and can be really scary :(

Things we are anxious about seem to be able to cause nightmares.

I don't have a perfect answer on how to stop nightmares, I still have them affecting me from time to time, but what I have learned in my experience may be helpful to you.

1. If I have some things I am anxious about, before bed, I will write those things down on a piece of paper, then fold up the paper and put it away in a drawer. This helps to clear my head to have a good sleep.

2. When I am in bed I will listen to things that relax me. I like to listen to the sound of rain, and owls, or just night-time sounds and peaceful running water, and these are available on youtube. This does help to relax me. I will also think of positive thoughts and imagine positive good things.

Generally doing those things works well for me.

To also make things a bit easier for you, perhaps you could get a cute little night-light that makes a warm, soft light, and put it somewhere, surround it with some plushies or toys you have, like a little friendship shrine, so that if you have a nightmare and you wake up, you can immediately look to that nightlight and see your toys, your lil friends, and feel safe and better. Often after I have a nightmare I am feeling dazed, confused, and not sure where I am (for like a minute or two after I wake up) so if you have the same experience then this idea with the nightlight and your lil toy friends around it could help.

That's about all the ideas I have for now... If I think of anymore I will post them.

I hope you will have some better sleeps, being comfy and cozy and having good sleeps is so important. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything or if you have any questions too.

I have nightmares consistently every night every so often, sometimes it lasts a whole week or more, or sometimes a few days. Generally, I can't stop them if I don't know they're coming but I try to stop them by stopping everything before bed and just taking some time to relax so I can calm down a little by doing something I like e.g knitting, or reading something happy, or listening to music - if you're overly stressed or anxious it can cause nightmares and I usually get mine around exam time or when I feel like something bad is happening/will happen or something's changing.

You could put a nightlight in your room like the person above said - this is what I do!

I surround myself with my teddies before i sleep so when I wake up, I instantly see them or am right next to them.

Even if you don't live with your daddy, could you perhaps talk to him about it since they're about him? Sometimes all you need is a little reassurance to ease your worries and you'll find you'll stop dreaming about it. I listen to my Daddy's voice messages if I wake up from a nightmare and I usually fall back asleep after doing that.

Hope this helps :)

My little one had this problem from the beginning of our relationship. Facetime and calling her before bed and telling her that i love her helps. but also, even now. I always say to her before going to bed "if you have a bad dream call daddy asap", Letting her know that i got her back, happy for her to wake me up and talk about it and ect. This is just what i do. everyone is different :) but good luck

Hii everyone, thank you so so much for the great advice, I've been trying to follow it for two nights now (like the teddy bears by my bed and talking to daddy about this) and I haven't had a nightmare since :) Daddy even said he'll send me some audio messages for me to listen only when/if I have nightmares, which is so so cute and thoughtful of him.

Thank uu guys, I'll keep u posted.
