Guest lovebug1988 Posted December 31, 2017 Report Posted December 31, 2017 how do you guys deal with things that scare you? like for me I hate loud noises, so fireworks, thunderstorms, all of those things, when i hear them I automaticlly go into littlespace and freak out.. I dont have a daddy or caregiver either so im just stuck... any advice?
sullenDaddybones Posted December 31, 2017 Report Posted December 31, 2017 (edited) There are different ways to deal with scary stuff. In a safe way expose yourself. That will sometimes harden you to it...for instance putting a spider in a plastic cage and just sitting there with it, after a long while you may get brave enough to pick it up out and try holding it. I have found that in the past I could almost pick up spiders... but some fears cannot be handled by exposure unless you're persist. Another way, avoid them... Another way, is to deeply immerse yourself in something else. Like a dream or WONDERFUL thought, it distracts you to some degree. Like a daydream of your best moments on rewind in your head. Mi-chan Posted January 1, 2018 Report Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) Put a headphone and listen your favorite music, if you can put a mask for night and cuddle your favorite stuffies ! Edited January 1, 2018 by Mi-chan
Guest D͛r͛a͛g͛o͛n͛sP♡ptคгt® Posted January 1, 2018 Report Posted January 1, 2018 I tend to hide in a safe place, a closet or under the bed, with a security item (blankie, stuffy, paci, and my phone are my personal security items.) and some music playing to drown out the loud noises. Either that or hide under the covers with a pillow over your head. Or I try to immerse myself into a book, show, game, coloring, etc. To try and drown out the scary things. I also try and surround myself with friends.
Onewhisperingoak Posted January 1, 2018 Report Posted January 1, 2018 all people have things that scare them ... for loud noises like thunder and noises that go boom ... I have suggested that people start with a thunderstorm program that you can play quietly on your phone when your having quiet little time... start with the volume on quiet then as it gets better turn it up a little and before ya know it sounds like cannons and fireworks and thunderstorms should begin to lessen the anxiety and because you listen to them you may find them soothing to hear and have a calming effect.. Guest lovebug1988 Posted January 1, 2018 Report Posted January 1, 2018 thank you everyone!! Ill try some of these later!
cuppycakes Posted January 1, 2018 Report Posted January 1, 2018 The thing that made me stop being afraid of thunderstorms was actually watching them. Watching the lightning dance across the sky was mesmerizing, I’d even go outside to watch. Now I mostly stay in our porch, though. I sit with a blanket and light some candles and relax. It’s a nice time, and it’s fun to count the seconds it takes for you to see the lightning and then hear the thunder.
