How can I explain this to my Daddy?

I'm not very good with explaining things but my Daddy wonders why I act up so much for his attention. He doesn't understand that that's all I want is for him to give me attention and I look for it in positive and negative ways. I don't mean to upset him when I act out, he's a good Daddy and I still love him when I act up but he thinks I do it to be mean... Can I also get advice on how to better myself, to look for better ways to get his attention?

It sounds like the level of attention you want is given when he responds to you acting out. Think through what about that attention you like. Is it his responsiveness? The amount of time he is talking to you? His guidance? Once you figure that out, communicate that need with him and work out how you all can work on those things without it having to come from you acting out.

I think you said that perfectly! If you share that portion with him the rest should come naturally.

It's an "if this than that" situation. Give him the roadmap to your behavior and explain it. Hopefully he will figure out the rest but if not it might be a step by step evaluation and understanding process.

What you just wrote, say exactly that to him. Tell him why you act up and for those reasons. Work out together how you can ask for attention, like drawing things for him and showing or make up cute dances or nibbling on his arm and hugging him and kissing lots and asking for attention ect. Work it out together and explain to him what you explained to us
